Yes, story, so you don't have to see the movie to hate it - it's in the novel and comic adaptations. I'm not bothered at all by blackout/grindor/soundwave's robot mode/devy balls/jolt's time on screen, and please don't be mistaken - I am really looking forward to the movie and will likely enjoy it very much.
It's about Optimus Prime being "descendant of the primes", the only one that can defeat the Fallen, etc. I feel like this setting kind of undermines the effort of both Prime himself and other autobots to, well, do good stuff. Fine, OP is supposed to be the descendant of that great dynasty, destined to lead the people, etc. He's supposed to be good and caring because he is from this lineage, probably programmed, unlike some worker/exploring ship captain/repair crew leader who's just an ordinary person (well, bot) good at heart. This just feels cheap to me. It also means when fighting the Fallen, every other autobot is supposed to let OP do the fighting, instead of covering each other as teammates. The Fallen is an ancient and powerful thing that could take a lot of cooperation, cunning and planning to bring down, and making a story like this will probably let the audience feel more satisfaction. Now we just get some miracle Prime Power and easily kill him. Of course, in the movie it probably would still take a lot of fighting, but knowing that OP is destined to be a match for the Fallen takes something away from the suspense of the battle.
Maybe it's just me, and pardon my English if there are mistakes. Still looking forward to the movie nevertheless, at least we'll have ACTION. :)

I feel ya, but I think all the other incredibly awesome stuff in the movie will outweigh it.

Something I don't get either is that if Optimus Prime is a Prime and only a Prime can defeat the Fallen, why is he getting his ass kicked by Megatron, who isn't a Prime, in the first movie? if he can take out the Transformer-equivilent-of-Lucifer, he can't take on Megatron? Was Prime just tired after his duel with Bonecrusher and the rest of the drive to Mission City?

He probably has an epiphany when he gets powered up by draping himself in Jetfire's corpse.

I know what you mean. Destiny always seems so...undemocratic. I prefer to think of Prime as one who earned his place by merit, not some random accident of "lineage".
