Go for it, get one. Definately get either the Premium or Elite, none of that Arcade crap. Also, ask for one of those Play & charge kits, and a headset.

Considering everyone who buys a 360 gets 3 years RROD cover anyway, you need not worry about it. Oh yeah, and beware XBLA, those games are addictive as hell.

 

I have it for the PC. Does that count? I can't play FPS's on consoles with their horrible non-accurate aiming.

Sure you could buy one without it, but you will instantly wish you had gotten it. Also, make sure and get Xbox Live.
It's just cool having the option to play people from this site, or at least see what they are up to.

There's really a ton of games -both on the greatest hits and current releases.

  Well, I see some bits of that game, and already I don't feel like wanting it, so I saved me some dough.

Speaking of money, apparently I'm on a birthday budget this year with my folks. I saw the prices for the Elite, and it costs $450. This blew my parents' minds (I kinda figured that as well  ), but I'm still trying to convince them. If that doesn't work out, I've got two options.

Option 1: I can spend half of my money and half of their money and get the system, which would work out for everybody (I might as well go with that option, seeing as though I need some money left for Super Smash Bros Brawl).

Option 2: Since I don't have enough money to buy an Elite (I've got...I think $450), I can go out and buy a regular 360, and hope that it doesn't have the RROD, and worry about the online stuff later.

And don't worry, once I get a 360, I'll JOIN Xbox Live.   Get ready.

You will not be dissapointed with your 360. I have both systems and I can honestly say that I have reached a Zen point where I love them both equally (the Ps3 and Xbox). There are things that I love and hate about the 360, and things that I love and hate about the PS3. There are games that I love on both systems. So honestly, look at the games the systems have to offer and roll with it.
