Spoilers of the massive OMFG variety!!! Hawkeye and his family get assassinated in their own home!!! Holy fucking shit!!! I'm not going to speculate about who the traitor is, but I've got my hunches. Just...wow. Holy fucking shit. I love this series.
Wreckgar doesn't think he died. I hope he did. DIE HAWKEYE! STAY DEAD HAWKEYE! The traitor is... I have no idea. Hank Pymn? TOO OBVIOUS. Tony Stark? No. Black Widow? She's too hot So my money is on Captain America, he will then get killed himself and replace with Captain Britain because he is great because he is British!
I wouldn't put it past Millar to make Nick Fury the traitor. Anyway, I'm pretty sure Hawkeye, AND his family, are dead, despite no one seeing clear bullet wounds...but I figure that's because it's a T comic, and doing that would have bumped it up to MAX or Marvel Knights. That's the only reason it's left ambiguous. And, I think Hawkeye IS dead. Remember that line of Banner's from the end of issue 2 or 3? How they're phasing out the old heroes with the new ones? Hawkeye would be first on that list, as he's only good at hitting stuff on target. All the other "normal joes" on the team have something more valuable, like a suit of armor, or the ability to change size, etc. Hawkeye is dead because...well, he's unnecessary now.
I don't think Hawkeye's dead since I didn't see him getting shot, just the guy with the gun in his face. His family is dead I'm sure though. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.
Clint's gone. And with the traitor's last line, I'd have said he's either Nick or Cap. Of course, there's no gaurentee that Clint will actually stay dead. Thor may still be telling the truth, and there's still Wanda...
Hawkeye is not dead. Besides the fact tht no one stays dead in comics, there was no bullet shot, no blood splatter for the last image. And the save was already set up. Wanda forgot her purse. Instead of going to get it herself because she was to drunk, Quicksilver will go retrieve it. Upon entering the house, he'll see Hawkeye with a gun pointed to his head and zip him away. His instantaneous speed was also alluded to in the first 3 pages when he busts Cap out in no time. As for the traitor, Cap. It's gotta be Cap. All the references. It's not Pym. he was WITH the traitor in issue 6. The traitor is a male. Not Wanda or Black Widow. Thor is in lockup. The language used it very military like and the only other military guy is hawkeye. Fury is way to involved in other books to be the traitor. Fury becomming a rebel would completely screw with bendis' upcoming plans and we do not screw with Ultimate Spidey. Also another note, Cap is just to angry with Pym all the time. Taking his girl is one thing but now it's just excessive. By sherading as hating pym, it's an easy cover to show his "Go USA" side. As for why? Cap was from WWII. He still has that mentality, as also elluded to by Janet. He doesn't like the new USA and what it stands for. He feels its a disgrace and wants to fix it. I think this plays off the original idea when Cap forsake his Costume and became The Captain, but to a more severe degree.
I have to say, I haven't enjoyed a comic book as much as The Ultimates in YEARS. Superb comic, absolutely superb.
I think you're on to something here. Like that obligatory scene explaining or showing what some device can do in the beginning of a movie..only to have it be utilized at the end. The wife and kid are definitely dead. The panel where his kid is shot and the blood spatters onto Hawkeye's face was so "Holy shit!," I made my girlfriend read the last six pages or so, as I do on occasion to remind her that I'm not dropping $30 a week on kiddie stuff.
I've been thinking Cap's been too okay with everything that's going on... he always did what he did for freedom and peace previously (in the Ultimates, anyways) and what Fury is doing goes right against that grain. He also doesn't like acting proactively when there's no immediate threat, or doesn't appear to, and that's what happened #6/7. I'm halfway thinking he's going to form a new team, not under anyone's control - Pym, Janet, Hulk, Iron Man (once he's bumped from the team, or from active duty, as he will be) and Thor. This is just speculation, though, based on the impressions the characters have given me. I'm hanging out to see what happens with Thor, though, and whether Banner will have Hulk under a bit of a tighter leash when he inevitably returns (although horny Hulk was what made me start buying this).
when does the next issue come out? and when was Cap just the Captain? I wanna see what he looked like.
man, I cannot find a picture of the captain for th elife of me. However the costume was close to US Agnet if I remember correctly.
Shipwreck: Ultimates 2 #8 is out September 14. It isn't August cause that's when Ultimates Annual #1 comes out. Source: Wikipedia Wreckgar: Walker's USAgent costume is identical to the one Rogers wore as the Captain.
