Blackout is the first transformer seen transforming....Starscream is the last.

The Autobots...specifically Prime & Ratchet are kinda goofy...innocent..kinda like children.

Optimus Prime is also MUCH MUCH more tame in this film than in it's sequels.

The Decepticons were pretty badass specifically Frenzy who got alot done for such a little bot.

Foreshadowing by Ironhide? After Mojo pees on his foot he exclaims something along the lines of "that's gonna rust!"

Optimus Prime chastising Ironhide about wanting to kill humans and as we saw in the TF4 trailer..Optimus Prime kills humans...never thought I'd type that.

the order in which we are introduced to the Autobots by Optimus Prime (Jazz, Ironhide, Ratchet) is the order in which they are killed.

Blackout arrives at dusk aka when it gets dark/black out.

Blackout's attack on the base & Sam buying Bumblebee both occur on May 30, 2007.

Kinda crazy...the first hour of the film really is Bumblebee & Frenzy..the other autobots don't arrive until a little over an hour and Starscream & Megatron don't appear until 90 minutes in! Kinda crazy.

Also, I do feel like Starscream was meant to fire at Mega...the way the film was cut it certainly alludes to it...the Starscream we get in 2 & 3 is much less aggressive & subservient than TF1 Starscream.

There's actually a massive amount of human casualties in the trilogy..it just happens so fast and isn't bloody that it's kind of understated but think about it..Megatron is unfrozen and instantly slaughters hundreds of humans...and when Mega and Prime go through that building..easily 100s of more dead at least...and that's just part 1..things get much darker for the humans in 2 & 3..kinda cool they are going in the direction they are..im excited

Overall TF1 is much more clean and innocent compared to 2 & 3...it feels like each TF film gets darker and more violent...which i'm totally cool with, just an observation.

Barricade & Scorponock do not participate in the Climatic Battle in LA

o ya and Megatron says to prime something along the lines of "Then join them! In Extinction!"...heavily rumored that Galvatron is revived by humans in essence "joining" them in Age of Extinction.

And this is really cool, I always thought Megatron's ALT form in part 1 was a cybertronian ship but apparently it's some alien ship he scanned while looking for the allspark pre-part 1..i think that's pretty neat.

    1) Ok?

    2) Yes Optimus Prime is more tame, perhaps because, at this point he is new to this world.

    3) The Decepticons undoubtedly in TF1 were portrayed strongly and aggressively!

    4) "That's gonna rust" was clearly said and is just a little joke that I found extremely humorous

    5) Optimus is not 'killing humans' he is CLEARLY shooting in front of them when he bursts out of the barn in AOE.

    6) Order of the Autobots being introduced is the same as their deaths? good spot unless you count Prime's death in ROTF?

    7) Yep, first hour is mostly Bumblebee, Barricade and Frenzy, oh and Shia, Megan, the Parents, Pentagon, weird school child team working on the case in the Pentagon...

    8) Agreed, Starscream was definitely more aggressive in TF1 than ROTF and DOTM.

    9) Human casualties in a Transformers film, good

So yes TF1 was a lot more toned down than ROTF and DOTM, but it was the first film and so everyone was getting acquainted.

I wouldn't say goofy, (I'm assuming you're talking about the scene at Sams house) It was one of the few attempts at character development. It showed that the Autobots are people, and occasionally like to have fun, and be silly, and that Ratchet and Ironhide are probably friends.

I think Optimus was holding back in the first movie. He didn't want to kill Megatron, Hell even Bonecrushers wound wasn't fatal. He obviously survived to ROTF.

Even thought I hated his design, I have to admit Frenzy was one of the lesser incompetent Decepticons in the first movie.

Too many human characters who didn't matter. I don't even remember half of them.

I remember several flame wars about this topic. But hey, the editing strongly suggests that Starscream fired off a few shots as well.
Much like the JFK assassination, I suppose we'll never truly know...

I like that the first film is really a 'first step' for the series.

It's like Jurassic Park in a sense: they were entering new frontiers with digital animation, yet they really made much of the CG work from ILM count. I have very few gripes with some of the CG scenes.

Though one of my favorite moments is when Optimus is trying to to get Sam to find the glasses, Sam starts freaking out, and Optimus goes, 'Calm down, calm down.'

I liked that scene as well...I also loved it when Ironhide, Jazz, Optimus, & Ratchet are at the observatory with the glasses and their exchange of dialogue..loved it..i feel like those kinda scenes were missing from 2 & 3.

I think my favorite moment is:
Sam: "No! Those are my mom's flowers!"
    Prime: "Whoops!"

That I feel was what was missing a lot from ROTF: you didn't really have any moments where the film could slow down and have 'meaningful conversation.'

Sure, you had Skids and Mudflap talking, and even the scene with Jetfire, but 9/10 of those scenes was inane and manic chatterboxing. I mean, it takes Jetfire about 3+ minutes before he even starts giving info that is key to the mission at stake.

And the Twins? Well, they provide NOTHING except giving off attitude and arguing. Can't read Cybertronian, and just keep mouthing off about Leo.

A lot of film franchises start this way. The original Star Wars isn't half as dark, or deep as the newer ones got. Transformers couldn't really start their fiest live action film extremely dark and gritty.

I've actually noticed this too, but it probably wasn't foreshadowing, it was probably just a coincidence.

I guess Prime's just had it with humans in AoE. While I think the whole "we don't kill humans" thing was kind of silly in the first place, I wish Optimus had stuck to his morals.

    interesting, but probably just coincidence.

lol behold the eternal glory of Jetfire...i agree...2 really suffered from the writer's strike and the switching of writers....for an old bugger Jetfire took out Scorponock, Mixmaster and helped saved the world...not bad for someone who "shit the bed" that morning, according to Wheelie.

the Twins...it's interesting...they got allot of hate but they were actually pretty integral to the plot of 2...after all once Prime was killed it was up to Bumblebee, Skids, & Mudflap to save the planet.....that's why I hated the fact that they were not in 3 (ok aside from that mistaken cameo)...it's not like they were Jolt or Chromia and had minimum screen-time..they were 1 of the major players in TF2 and to just write em off cause some people perceived them a certain way...i just hate it..i hate it cause the story suffered...that would have been jaw-dropping to see them killed along side Ironhide & truly memorable...but now we get..what? They didn't exist?

i thought so as well the 1st like 5 times i watched the trailer but if you look closely..it LOOKS like that guy takes the shot sqaure in the chest and completely disintegrates..i know trailers can sometimes be misleading but it looks like Prime goes full Rambo this time..and i say good...as bad as megatron was i still don't understand why prime would sacrifice his own world for ours...especially considering how devious mankind can be.

Ok, this is where I have to disagree.

I watched ROTF in preparation for a blog post of the film in my "Terrible Two's" column, and I couldn't really find anything they did competently in ROTF:

    - they were called into the fight in Shanghai, but just came apart (Arcee and the other cycles did more in that battle).

    - fought over who would take on what Chevy vehicle shape.

    - Started mouthing off about Leo being a wuss.

    - Telling Sam they couldn't read Cybertronian.

    - Bounced about in Egypt saying they had to 'blend in like a ninja.'

    - 'Argued' in the temple and started just fighting.

    - Pretty much ended up fighting Devastator reluctantly, and didn't really do much damage, in the end, just ended up blasting each other.

After the Devastator fight, they just disappeared. If only Animated Ratchet had done to them as he did to Wreck-Gar:

"You're no Autobot and you'll never be an Autobot. You're only good for one thing: GARBAGE!!!"

lol nice...haha well they are supposed to be like teenagers..young, mouthy, & annoying but they did indirectly find the Matrix of Leadership & delayed Devestator long enough for Simmons to set up the killing blow.

I'd give Bee more credit for finding the Matrix. Though Bee made me really happy when he was pretty much, 'I have had it with you two idiots!' grabbed them, headbutted them together, and tossed them aside.

Actually, regarding the Simmons bit, they don't really do much except run 'underneath' Devastator, and that's the last we hear from them. They don't do much regarding Devastator climbing out of the pit, and up the side of the pyramid.

The more I thought about it, Jar Jar actually did more in Episode I than the Twins in ROTF. Jar Jar at least took the Jedi to Otah Gunga, and even helped Amidala locate the Gungans when she wanted to partner with them to save the planet.

    No he doesn't.

It's really clear from the trailer he's shooting at their feet. Not a single one of them is actually hit.

Well, the only one who really seems hurt at all was that one guy who took a wheel to the face from the Chevy Road-Rally vehicle.

Though I am wondering if Optimus has definitely had enough after the last few films. He often was at odds with most humans, though it felt like DOTM was where he really started to get peeved, with that whole 'You lied to us' bit.

    Was Optimus driving it?

That is pretty much the point of him this movie. He's kind of given literally everything for humanity and they've given him shit in return.

Watch the movie; there's your evidence. The editing goes from Starscream shooting the other F-22's to Starscream transforming, and joining them in formation. The very next scene the F-22's swoop down and shoot Megatron.

Whether or not Starscream was intended to fire on Megatron is debatable, but watching the actual movie it sure looks like it.

Pretty sure they wouldn't have found the matrix without Mudflap and skids having their little argument.
