That was Soundwave, not Dr Claw.

 

It was ok but I too would have preferred something different.

Very. I think that's perhaps where Soundwave went wrong, he should have sent Lazerbeak and kept Ravage on his lap to pet.

That's fair enough, but to someone not uber familiar with it, some big, badass looking robot with a voice that sounds like it's off a disco record... might not be as easy to swallow. Times hath changed and all that.

 

maybe you can do one better and watch for the DVD to come out. You have to him them where it hurts and that is the bottom line. Id wait for TF2 to hit the clearance section at Wal Mart.

 

When I heard it I was surprised they hadn't gone crazy adding effects to his voice, but I found myself liking the sinister vibe it had to it for this version of Soundwave. (That and I love Frank Welker's Dr. Claw voice. )

I now want to place ROTF Robot Heroe's Ravage (when he's released) on ROTF Soundwave's lap.

That's not true. . .You can still do the vocoder but deepen the voice a little. You dont have to go a whole new direction where he sounds like crap.

 

about as likely as a solution to the brawl/devastator fiasco. or an explanation as to why devastator stood up in astrotrain, or where prime's trailer goes.
pretty much not gonna happen, so hold out for a fan edit.

 

It didn't bother me, I just thought it was awesome they brought Welker back for it.

 

What really bothers me the most about Soundwave is that Welker sounded appropriately sinister and terrifying, yet Bay didn't think he could reprise his role as Megatron.

At one point, I even thought Megatron was communicating with his troops through Soundwave, so similar is Weaving's voice to Welker's.

So why in the fuck didn't Bay go with Welker as Megatron?

Makes even less sense now.

It would have been cool to have a classic Soundwave voice, however the Dr. Claw voice was appropriate for the character with the way he was handled in the film. Either way, it's still Frank Welker.

 

Of the 4 lines Soundwave got, they should have at least had him say "Ravage, Eject!"

 

Ideally, I would've loved to have heard a variation of Soundwave's voice with the vocoder, probally in a deeper tone; however, I was very satisfied with the non-vocoder version of Soundwave. It sounded sinister as hell, especially since I knew it was Frank Welker doing it and not some random guy (reminded me of the 'Excellent Ravage' line in G1). Glad he had more than one line too.
