    Remember this thread

    Well it's official now.By March 2nd I turn in my uniform :redface2:

And I don't think the General Manager realizes how insulting what she said was.She says "Maybe it's just not for you" I found that very insulting as 1)She makes it sound like the job is brain surgery 2)More then half the employees*the one's I've seen* are like 5-10 yrs younger. So apparantly I'm a worse worker then a teenager. There was a woman working there before for 5 yrs,she dropped out of high school. And SHE lasted longer then me :cry  Can't help but feel a little insulted

What I really hate is that she used the "It's hard on me to do this" Well of course it is,firing someone who deserves it is the EASIEST thing to do.But if you're firing someone who doesn't deserve it,of course it won't be easy

Apparantly the reason is my speed and my lack of proficiency in the back end.But I was good enough 6 months ago(my last review)so don't see how I could've taken such a turn for the worst. And WITHOUT anyone taking me aside to help me out

I find it ironic that AFTER I firmly state "I'd like to be trained in other areas" that all of a sudden I'm a bad employee

Oh well, thanks to the internet a person can send off over a dozen resumes a week without leaving the house

As a restaurant owner I can say if she were in my company, I would fire that mananger. She is incapable of doing her job, because she can not keep her personal feelings out of her decisions (however twisted they may be). She will get what is comming to her in the end. You should have no problems in finding a new job.

    EDIT

I was re reading some of your previous posts on this subject and I am even more convinced she is full of it. If there was an employee not meeting standerds I would not wait six months to tell them. I would tell them right away, not only fof their good, but for the good of the company.
From what you said in the previous posts you are meeting the standards of the company. If it states 35-50sec to make a burger, and you do it in 40 sec, you are well within standards. Hell I would want an employee to do that, and if they had a problem I would do whatever in my powers to help them to get to that level.
Also you stated you get to work right away and do not goof around. That kind of dedication will get you far in whatever you choose to do. I wqish all of the people who work for me were like that.

This is the best thing for you. You had been there too long, and you told me over a year ago how much you hated it. Don't let this bruise your ego. The job is beneath you and you know it.

Consider this a blessing, and I'm sure you'll find something much better.

I’ve read nothing else on this but maybe it cos your older and know its beneath you that you aren’t as good a worker, not to come down on you but some time doing a job that is to menial for your intellect can lead to you acting in way that aren’t liked by an employer, you don’t really know your doing it, its just ways to relieve the stress and boredom you feel. I know I’ve done that at least, maybe look for some thing a little more challenging.

Looks like your not cut out for fast food either. I'd say that's a good thing. lol
You always hear stories from the greats how they say they started in fast food.
Don't feel bad man, working McD's and many other fast food places is alot harder than it seems. Almost have to be a machine with memorizing and tolerating all those special customers (who the world revolves around) can be a real pain in the ass. F all that. I could'nt do it. I tried.
Wish I had a high powered meat launcher!

I've fired myself a few times.

That's my whole gripe with this. Why so long to say something, I mean does a husband/boyfriend wait 6 months that he has a problem with a significant other's attitude. It's the same here

And I'll admit that I have been slower some days then others. But like I said there isn't ONE PERSON on this board who can can that they haven't have had to wait on a McDs order. But I try VERY hard to keep up & IMO that kind of percervierance should be rewarded more then chyded

To me that's just being professional.Maybe I am a bit slower but what about my other qualities I bring.Obviously that doesn't mean much

Judging from the list of Trainers,Team Leaders and Swing Managers.I think honestly my age has something to do with it.Most of the promotions went to people between 17-20

I've stated FLAT OUT "I'm interested in being promoted" but I guess it falls on deaf ears

I had a horrible job working at a metal plating and buffing factory. It was full of ex-convicts, high school drop outs, old bitter vets, and illegal immegrants. I hated it, but I busted my ass everyday. My boss always rode me, I was always doing something wrong.

One day he pulled me aside and said "What are you doing here?" I felt like a fool. Like somehow I was too stupid to be working in a worn down factory.

Then he said something I'll always take to heart. "You should be telling me what to do. You are not very good at this job, but you are such a smart kid. You deserve better than this place."

He was right, I wasn't very good at that job. That's not where my skills are. Now I'm working in web design and HTML coding and making $18,000 more.

Take this as an opportunity to move foward and in the right direction. Sometimes you just need a good kick in the ass first.

Excellent story. Its so true. Sometimes you really do just need a kick in the junk to wake you up and realize your potential.

Great story Funk, always good when someone takes you aside and tells you something like that.

Oddly though I was good at my job.Untill recently NO ONE had any problems with me.

I just think that the GM wants to take the restaurant in a different direction. So in essence I didn't fit into that vision of hers. And I can accept that

But instead of being honest and telling me that, instead she ops to devalue me.I mean I must've had good qualities to last there for over a year :banghead:

But it's all a moot point at this point.

It's the company's loss in this case

How do you take MDs in a different direction, sell good food? At least on your behave you nnow have exp in the food service industry and can use that to your advantage if that is a career path you would like to persue. There are a lot of jobs out there that pay a hell of a lot more money and a lot less stressful. And more money=more toys, yay!!

Bad management, bad company. They've just done you a huge favour, don't even give it a second thought. Place a formal complaint about her and walk away. You're better than fast food!
