I initially thought you meant something else, because I had remembered that as Beast Wars Ravage on account of his bot mode!  

 

Gotta say (and please don't get all triggered)... the reveals have been a real let down for me. Outside of chromedome ( who looks amazing) and fort max... nothing. Was really hoping to see more... so many no shows.

 

I think this is the way its gonna be from now on. I think the 3rd Party presentation will be mostly updates.

 

Never thought we would get an MP Fort Max but we're getting one, kudos to Fans Toys for taking the plunge. I still love my Takara Legends one and won't be replacing it but I think I might get this if just for that base mode. I think it might finally be time to make a dedicated Transformers table in the hobby room!

What was also weird was, MMC IDW Chromedome was shown via photos, and not on the video panel.

MMC’s IDW Getaway was no where to be seen also.

SXS and G-Creations didn’t have anything to show photo or video wise.

MakeToys seems about dead. They made a nice Jazz, but I guess that’s what you get when you milk the boring and stale MP pig long enough — and try to sell us shite we already had full collections of (seekers).

That Chromedome was a breath of fresh air. So at least we got that.

 

That's why I really liked MTs Cross Dimension line, it wasn't MP, it definitely wasn't G1, and I'd hoped it was taking them in a cool new direction.

I totally agree the only thing I wonder about, is if they made a screen accurate version how'd they'd allow a knee joint for the super-mode. I imagine it's possible with today's engineering, so I'm very curious as to how it will turn out.

I agree but unfortunately this has been the trend for a while now. All the interesting news tends to come from the Asian shows. The 3P companies mostly ignore the NA cons, except to maybe send over a bunch of slides of things we already know about. So one positive development was that they didn't waste our time with that this go around!

 

Personally, I think this is just how it's gonna be from now on now that G1 is ramping down (which would explain something so crazy as FT's Fort Max. Not sure how that's gonna work out though, I'm plenty fine with Hasbro's offering but I might be interested in a Brave redeco for more Titan variety) and why we've also been seeing more and more movie figures showing up. Hell, I'm glad we're seeing less and less G1 now, between Hasbro/Takara and the recent toon push I've got major G1 fatigue and want to see something different. That's why MMC's Chromedome was the most exciting thing shown off for me!

 

Hopefully to some extent it's because most of the top companies are overannounced.

 

Not really directing this at you, but what Asian conventions are there? Just curious, as I don't really keep track of what conventions there are and when.

As much as I and everyone else love G1, there's only sooo much you can make before people get tired. The MMC IDW line is great, Fans Hobby Armada Optimus looks really good too, and I hope they do more of the Armada line. The options are pretty much limitless, and honestly for as bad as a show it was. I'd love it if somebody made some Energon inspired figures. It was a bad show, but it had some good concepts
