Ah, I never posted an update, but I was able to do it! The employee thought it wasn't allowed, but he asked his manager and the manager said it was totally fine.

And that's odd about Walgreens not taking returns for items bought at other locations; I've definitely done that before (with receipt). In this case it was an online order so it definitely didn't matter which store I went to for the return.

 

That's a pretty risky gamble - glad it worked out for you. Definitely not something I would try though - return a very hard to find exclusive on the hopes that I might be able to buy it back later. What if they didn't put it back on the shelf until at night, after closing? What it someone else came along and nabbed them before you came back? So many uncertainties involved to save $10, while you had the certainty of holding them in your hands already.

 

I have to agree. That $10.00 saved could've become a much more expensive headache in trying to reclaim them elsewhere.

Sometimes, people just aren't satisfied with what they have and have to get more. I've been poor, I've been cheap, I've been greedy, and now I'm just thankful I even have them. I don't play games, any more. We're blessed more than we realize.

 

Former employee here. It's allowed but not generally looked well upon by LP (Loss Prevention) on account of how the store that is refunding is the one taking the hit. Regional lines are wonky so even if the original wallyworld is only a few blocks up the road, it could be the difference of East and West districts, reporting to different regional managers.

Besides, if you're a regular at Store A, they won't give you as much of a Stranger-Danger stink eye like at Store B cuz they want you to come back and spend mo' munny there.

 

I hear you guys, but these surprisingly shelfwarmed for awhile in my area (at 4 different stores), so I risked it. I was able to cherry pick the best 2 across the 4 stores, as most had bad paint QC issues on the head (perhaps thats why some shelfwarmed?). I'm happy to go back and get someone a Bluestreak or 2, but only to go towards a trade for a new/sealed Centurion Drone, which I missed out on. PM me.

 

As a manager for them, the company could care less which store you return an item at. All denying a valid refund will do is cause me to likely have to call a customer about a complaint. lol If you have a receipt return your items anywhere. Without a receipt is another matter as we can only look up your purchases if you used the rewards card at the store you are trying to return to.

 

Walmart has ER Airwave for $13.86. A good price and who knows, you might even get the figure you ordered. Stranger things have happened.  

 

Interesting... 2 different Walgreens stores told me the same thing, that I could only return to the same store as is printed on the receipt. She even scanned the receipt and said the system wouldnt accept it and I had to go to the store I bought it from. That was a few months ago so I assumed it was still the policy when I did a recent return. Of course now they do digital receipts starting this week so maybe things have changed.

 

Nah, unfortunately some stores just make up their own policies. Maybe they have a lot of fraudulent returns there.

This evening I went to the not-really-nearby Walgreens where, a month ago or so, I found 2 Refraktors, but didn't buy. They were still there.
myWalgreens had a "25% off your entire purchase" coupon as well, also expiring today. fine print said not valid on assorted things like "Marvel" and "Hasbro", but "Transformers" wasn't listed, and it worked, and lo my 2 Refraktors are $11.24 each.  
I never got single-pack Refraktor before, they'll go nicely with Netflix Scrapface.
sadly, no Bluestreak; I've yet to see it in person.

 

If you still have Walmart's $29.99 preorder for Doubledealer open, it may be worth asking customer service about it. They can't force the preorder to be filled from the in-stock item but I was able to get a credit to make up for the price difference. I put in the order with the credit before I cancelled the original preorder. It was probably more effort than it should have been but easier than trying to find one at Ross.

 

Damn this is tempting but then I had to remind myself black friday and cyber Monday are coming up. Gotta be patient...
