Just remember, how many times and for how long did Jetfire sit at $45/$50 as well? I'm not worried if the order gets cancelled, because the precedent has already been set that the price will dip that low on it's own at some point.

That’s a pretty strong response to a personal opinion. I could discuss the very real phenomenon of internalized value being diminished when a low price for a good is seen but that seems a bit, nope, I’m just randomly hating.

Or, I don’t know, ask anyone with any real experience in pricing and what the net effect of a sale price is.

Walmart.com scalps their own sold by walmart.com stash all the time... they'll honor their price cuts too.

It's all in their copy and paste Amazon.com algorithm and/or human error. :p

Magnificence will be fulfilled at $49.99 :)

Actually, it kinda is. But to be fair, it really depends on whether the price is honored or cancelled as a pricing mistake, which it probably is.

Its not a sale price though. It’s a pricing mistake. Being upset that you missed out on a company’s error shouldn’t make you no longer want to by it at the legitimate price.

Oh, my. Hang on, read below...

This. Precisely this. In fact, the people who sit on the sidelines and wait for these ridiculous prices, errors or not, contribute to overall problems for everyone, including the penny pincher.

It sends the message to Hasbro that we don't want their stuff at a proper price, but we're also cheap. They respond with cheapness. They hollow out figures. They cut corners. They cut waves. They cut production numbers.

Everyone was so sure, myself included, that Omega Supreme would shelfwarm, that he'd go on insane price cut, and we'd get him for a song. He didn't, he wasn't, and we didn't. In fact, he sold out in most places for MSRP or a small sale price.

He's worth the $160.00. Sky Lynx is worth the $80.00, if you, ex dtw2003, can't tell yourself that you're paying the same price as other people and that's okay, then I think you need to take a breather and realize this is all about a toy.

If it were an actual sale, if it were something actually worth getting excited about (it's Walmart, it's not, they're awful at fulfillment), I could sort of see your point. Convincing yourself that something isn't worth the money asked because someone else got lucky and you didn't is one of the most asinine arguments I've heard.

Plenty of people fare worse than you do. Be happy you can get it at all. Will some get it cheaper? Probably, not going to lie, but it's not worth getting yourself setup to fail in your mind because you didn't get to cash in on human error.

If anything, that's kind of exploitative. (And no, that's not aimed at anyone but you. They knew what they were getting into and got their hopes up, but will take it at MSRP, if nothing else. Not kicking rocks and "aw, shucks!"-ing it. You're upset that you couldn't cash in on a mistake and so you're going to take your ball and go home. That's why it's aimed at you.)

If you go without Sky Lynx, you suffer. Sad.

EDIT: Oof... I just reread this and noticed the tone comes across a lot harsher than intended. I meant to be matter of fact, not snide. Sorry. Geez...

A bunch of folks got Omega Supreme for $120.

As long as Hasbro gets their cut, I don't really care what Walmart makes off of it and they don't much care either.

Keep in mind that Skylynx WILL likely be available with the 25% off toy coupons that Target releases 2-3 of every holiday season and that Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart often discount to match.

I imagine Walmart still turns a profit at $49.99 and has bigger priorities than canceling a bunch of orders. In general, their order cancelations seem tied to them overestimating supply. Most of it seemed tied to 35th stuff which they were SUPPOSED to do endcaps for and couldn't and then they wound up with overstock.

I'm more worried about Netflix figures getting cancelled since I assume they're supposed to have a big store display presence like 35th.

I don't think Walmart typically cancels much because the price was too low. They mostly seem to cancel stuff if fulfilling it would interfere with contracted displays/endcaps.

Since I doubt most stores will EVER stock Skylynx, that's no issue. I also imagine that Walmart canceling the orders likely won't result in the same people reordering at $80. Instead, those folks will either not buy Skylynx or will wait and use 25% off coupons at Target and Bestbuy.

The reason why the coupon page is so popular and why people get upset missing a deal, is because there is no reason to ever pay full retail for anything. Paying full retail is a massive ripoff, giving mass retailers obscene profit for essentially doing nothing other than sticking a product on the shelf.

The minimum profit margin for Target/Walmart/etc is 40% in the toy area. Mostly for Lego, who has been having sales problems lately and has probably needed to give greater margin to keep shelf space.

Profit margin for big box stores ranges from 40%-70% based on the product. The general average is 55%. A typical $30 product has a wholesale of $13.85, making anything above $13.85 a gross profit. Even at 50% off, the retailer is still making money. 20% off doesn't even make a dent in profitability.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but I'm of the mind that Hasbro would cut corners either way. They likely care more about their bottom line than making good things at this point.

Got an offer in the Target App for an extra 5% off online or in store when using Redcard. Guess this means 10% total off since Redcard already gives 5% off. Exclusions Apply.

    Expires March 14, 2020.

All large companies have this mindset. They want to make just good enough of a product to keep customers and cut as many corners as they can in maintaining said "good product" to maximize profit

Couple that with the additional 5% off on Circle and you might be able to do some damage.

I'm going patiently hold out for their 25% off combined with $10 off $50 or $25 off $100 promotion.

Sky Lynx has gone up to $60 on Walmart's site...still "out of stock" though.
