Yeah, that arm cannon is ugly and boring. Not sure why they went with that when his ion blaster was unique. BB already has an arm cannon and apparently Scourge will have one too.

Someone mentioned it defying the laws of physics as if any of the transformers is real. I don't think they were talking about looks as I saw people saying they should have blasters the hold and use instead of arm cannons.

 

Eh, that's a bad take. No movie is real. However, considering it's live-action and they're trying to sell you on the "realism", then they should strive to be real as much as possible without impacting the fictional story. At least, some conscious effort needs to be in place to make it seem like these characters could exist and interact within our world. Once they start morphing and shifting things out of thin air, it's no longer interesting. It just takes you out of the movie and you lose the the whole purpose of having a live-action movie in the first place. Similarly, it's the whole reason why I prefer 2014 Godzilla over GvK. Plus, these are suppose to eventually translate into toys so some level of "realism" (doesn't have to perfect) should apply. As for the arm cannon, I wish they put in more effort in making it more believable. In the BB movie, he sports an external blaster so it's already physically believable by default. In the '07 movie, you can see it transforming from his gas tanks so I thought that was pretty neat too. Here, a giant cannon morphs out of his arm. It just isn't quite as satisfying, nor does it look that good. If they spent more time making a more realistic arm cannon that could logically fit inside his arm, then I'd be on board.

Either way, it's not the end of the world. The arm cannon is the least of my concerns.

 

We desperately need a sonic situation with Optimus And wheeljack. This prime art is so much better.

 

Even the concept head looks good, if only Wheeljack had the same treatment…

 

I hope so, it's obvious they originally planned to keep the faceplate up, otherwise he'd always be depicted in promotional art with it down like previous films.

Bayverse prime ironically never had an arm cannon, only hand held ones.

 

Arcee's head looks awful in these pictures. Glad the final movie design did something far better.

 

Not really, even when he does have a mouth he’s pretty much always depicted in control art as having his mouthplate on. So it’s not really obvious.

Yup not a Bay thing and I don’t think he cares that much anymore about TFs to insist on things.

The head looks fine imo. If they stuck with this in the film she would have had more facial detailings.

It's still early yet and probably doesn't mean anything, but I find the conspicuous absence of Wheeljack and Mirage in the merch mildly amusing. I thought Mirage was supposed to be replacing Bee's role in this movie? Yet we've seen tons of him, and nothing of Mirage.
And I can't imagine any reason they wouldn't want to promote the amazing ROTB Wheeljack design.

 

Is it just me is this the first time we've seen ROTB Optimus Prime's feet? They look kinda like bayverse prime's feet (I.e. grey).

 

No they are original bb feet coloured grey. They simply greyed both his hands and feet from bb. Whether it’s to resemble bay we dhnno

 

That's what I meant, they've recoloured his feet grey to more closely resemble his bayverse design, like his hands.

Doesn't look like they kept this for the final design tho

 

Arcee is the only ROTB design that's as good or better than the BB design imo, every other character looks worse now

 

For the final film designs we have seen in the trailer it’s Arcee and Bumblebee for me.

But I also love his BBM VW design so much also, which is why I’m shocked I like his ROTB Camaro design as much as I do (so good imo).
