I only see one solution to Hasbro's shitty color choices in the MP line. It is time for Botcon/TFCC to jump aboard the MP train and start releasing their own decos. Just imagine, they could bring us recolors such as Skywarp, Thundercracker without shitty tattoos, white MP-10 Ultra Magnus, G2 Grimlock, Clampdown, Deepcover, blue Bluestreak, Slicer, and several others. Yes, there would be premium pricing involved. At least we would no longer be stuck with only TRU and their shittastic redecos here in the USA.

 

It should be the easiest Masterpiece to acquire ever.

I love Sunstorm, I couldn't wait for this even though I have the iGear and Takara. This, I don't know what this is. It isn't sunstorm. Its.....hideous. I'll save some money I guess. That is "Your Fired" material there.

 

I will get it...It is kinda ugly though...but I will get it because I'm addicted to masterpiece transformers. No way I would be ablt to pass it up in the stores...hasn't happened yet.

 

(Not that you don't know this, but since posting it alleviates some of my frustration)... we got Thundercracker as "completion of the MP Seeker set." Only problem being that the "identical trio" is now made up of two different molds.

Originally, I would have been happier to have gotten an MP3 Thundercracker over here, but after handling the MP11 mold and finding it to be legitimately superior, I'm just left hoping (ever more fruitlessly) that a redone SS and SW end up being done here.

It's worse than a knock-off, imo. I think iGears looks better than this one.

 

Fuck it, I just pulled the trigger on MP-11S for $140 shipped on ebay. I can't believe I held out for months on buying it thinking that Hasbro would take care of us. Never again.

 

Lame character + horrid paint scheme = easy pass.

The photo and the mistransformation are a bit too much for me right now. I think this will be one I have to have in hand first. It's certainly looking like to be the weakest Seeker from the Masterpiece line yet, though.

Yet there are still people who think Hasbro should have the reigns of the Masterpiece line?

 

I don't think it's a question of how vibrant the colors are. Orange would go a long way to fix the jarring look of the red parts, but there are more problems than that:

Wing stripes - single-color wing stripes have looked bad ever since IGA did it to Thundercracker in the 80's. The white or silver stripe running alongside the main stripe color looks better. If it has some kind of gradient or flames, or if it's orange and blends in better then there's hope, but I'm not betting on it.

Shins/Calves - the pieces that form the lower leg split down the shin on this mold, and have the flap that covers where the heels flip out. In this pic the lower leg pieces are white, which is going to look funny in jet mode. The sliding stabilizer assembly is yellow, and there's hope that the flap covering the heels will match the rest of the body, but it still looks like the rear of the jet mode might end up looking funny unless there's paint there. Go back and look at the legs of any MP-11 mold to see how that white will end up in jet mode.

Shoulders - the Generations-style stripe on the shoulders just doesn't work on the MP mold. The Classics/Generations mold had a mold seam that made it work, but the MP has detail greebles on the shoulders that end up half-covered in paint from the stripe, and it just doesn't work.

I dread seeing what tampos we're going to get. At this point I half expect something like "Lt Michael Rotch" for the pilot name.

On the plus side: If the intakes are the same yellow as the body, it tends to look a bit better in jet mode. I doubt they'll do it the way Takara did for MP-6 and MP-7, but the combination of yellow intakes plus the interior detailing in bronze might actually work. The brown on the null rays and chest turbines looks to be more of a metallic bronze, and that could certainly work.

This why I chuckle whenever someone says "I'll wait for the Hasbro version" in an MP discussion - taking the chance on a crap deco and TRU distribution/price woes is like playing Russian Roulette with 5 bullets.

 

now, HELLO! That looks FANTASTIC! Hopefully the true toy will be this orange.
