I still like the look of the new Prime. Yup looks like there are flaws but Motormaster and Prime sharing a mold? Hell yeah.

Hasn't that always been a wish of sorts given that they look similar in vehicle mode?

Plus I imagine it will take a hot minute for customisers to create a Nemesis Prime or RID Scourge.

 

That's why I specified Energon Combiners. No need to do a headswap when you can just put the larger heads in place of the smaller, normal heads anyway.

 

Oh... Like PCC? (I didn't really have much experience with the non powerlinxing combiners of Energon.)

But seriously, Hasbro is using that mold for TWO different figures? (Optimus and Motormaster). I hope this mold looks better in combined mode...

It's clear the combined mode is the back of the robot. The difference between Prime and menasor is that the box on the back of the cab/robot is closed on Prime while open on Menasor to acomodate the Blackjack chestplate.

The same box, the God Ginrai looking bit on the Supermode Prime, probably holds at least one of the heads.

Mounted on the back of it is the combined mode waist plate.

Prime's guns combine to form his combined mode gun as per Motormaster/Menasor.

Prime may even have an opening chest/matrix gimmick if you look at how it splits in two and the detail underneath on Menasor.

I'm super excited by this toy: I've wanted a proper Optimus combiner core for years!

 

How tall do you guys think the combined Menasor form will be ?

I'd like to see Prime in white as Ultra Magnus with a new combined mode head and correct colouration on the combiner mode torso for Ultra Magnus' super mode.

 

I'd like an Energon Wing Saber to go with him, maybe at least the drones from Energon.

 

If Hasbro does not make supermode components I am sure a 3rd party company will answer the call with a parts forming trailer.

Frankly, given the current Generations are based on the IDW versions (or soon-to-be designs), I'd prefer we got a whole new Ultra Magnus with Minimus Ambus riding in the chest compartment. Alongside a Verity "holomatter avatar"  

I'd rather we didn't. E. Wing Saber looks great, but his entire point of existence when not being a static brick homage to G1 Star Saber and G1 Predaking's feet is purely to make Fatboy Prime not suck by being his armor.

As there's already a Star Saber with an awesome design in MTMTE, I'd rather we get a fully poseable version of that one than a rehash of an homage who does the armor-for-prime job so well that it's really all he can do. But he can be jury rigged to work with 2006 Optimus if I remember that one set of pictures somebody posted in the "cool things" thread a long while back...

The drones, though? Those would be too much like PCC drone limbs which universally were not good and I'd much rather have the resources devoted into more combiners than referencing the worst Optimus Prime toy of all time.

 

See, we're getting an MP Star Saber, so my thinking is this would be the Generations take, kinda like how almost every MP has a Generations counterpart. As for the drones, I kinda figured they could come with Wing Saber or Prime himself.
