Looking at the mold now I can see where you're getting at. His head's too small on the body but what if it's not his only head? What if he also has a gestalt head hidden underneath What if this mold wasn't meant to be Optimus originally but rather for Motormaster who might be one of the Gestalt's for next year?

Also his alt mode seems to be in Motormaster's style rather then Optimus so there's that too. Hopefully SDCC would give us a sneak peek at the Combiner theme for next year.

 

Well, most of the engineering is done by Takara. And have you seen their "rusty Magnus" that they're trying to pass off as Optimus?

That... would make so much sense. If that means the other stunticons get G1 autobot redecos to make an autobot menasor, alls forgiven.* Or, but him in a "leader" gift set that comes with a trailer that splits into four limb modules to form a sort of updated Powermaster Prime.

*Except the head. Thanks to those who posted that season 5 puppet prime screenshot, I knew I'd seen a head like that before. But that head is the only thing about that toy that in hand posing won't fix.

 

One word: Powermaster. Because that's the only ONLY way this would wind up being bought. And even then I'd have a hard time.
