Yeah but Canada GameStop and US GameStop have totally different release dates, they're not always the same.

If you're a fellow Canadian collector, Cybertron.ca is probably the better local message board for you.

 

Ahh fair fair. I did a quick search for a GameStop thread and found this one which didn’t seem region based. Figured some Canadians may see it. Tbh I spend too much time on here I don’t need another transformer space to waste time on lol.

Honestly? I wouldn't be surprised if GameStop was allowing it as an excuse. There's a guy on YouTube, Camelot331, who used to work for them and he's revealed some horrible stuff about them (and other companies) and people hate him for it. Problem is, he's telling the truth and has evidence. GameStop's going down the drain, and they don't want to pay out on anything, I could absolutely see them saying "See? We were hacked. We're working on it." and then close down as it seems to be heading that way.

One of his videos said they're changing their hours in some locations, possibly nationwide. If true, they'd be open roughly 6 hours a day. Ooof.

GameStop just isn't worth it. Not any more.

EDIT: Whew! No saved payment methods on there. Yay! Changed my password, though.

Just deleted my card info off there. It's still valid until next year thought I only had PayPal on there. Haven't ordered from them since August and never preorder.

 

Yeah I know camelot. He always talk shit about companies. But it's all true.

 

One fleeting pleasant surprise was that GS finally fulfilled my Holiday Prime, albeit months late, but charged me shipping when I already met the free shipping minimum when I ordered (Yes, of course they raised it since). Dick move; especially since they even charged tax on the shipping.

Called them, and IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY FOR THREE DAYS STRAIGHT their CS call center played a recording to call back "tomorrow" due to overwhelming CS calls (not surprising), and quickly disconnects me.

Well, when it arrived at the store, I asked if the store could resolve that, and they actually got through to CS, and GS refunded me...sans the tax, of course.

Seriously, while the store staff are GREAT, the company is a POS and I don't mean a point of sale terminal.

 

Yeah. Probably because of mass firings and low wages.

I learned the same lesson. I think there was something fishy in an automated system, my discounted pre-orders never shipped but could conveniently re-order full-priced ones which mysteriously shipped early.

 

See... This, right here, is why I don't think the coupons and sales everyone wets their pants over, in that thread, are actually worth it.

More often than not, you hear about things like this happening, or orders being cancelled, or not getting them until months later, people getting theirs before you, etc.

Heck, I used the Pulse sale to buy Botbots and they took one of em out of the case, I had to send back the one I did get, and wait a month for the refund check. Only to turn around and use Amazon for $10.00 more to get the items I originally wanted.

This is an expensive hobby, I get that sales and deals are great and that they sometimes come through for you in the end, but most times they're not worth the hoops you've jumped through.

And certainly never from GameStop.

 

I will say as a former GS employee, Camelot lies a LOT and makes up a LOT of stuff because he got fired for actual fraud from the company. He has revealed some shit stuff they do, but he also makes up just as much or cherrypicks info.

 

I couldn't stand him. I kinda assumed something was fishy. Making a hate boner channel dedicated to the downfall of a company really screams I got caught and fired so I'll have my revenge. Normal people, hell even normal bitter people who hold grudges like me don't do this.
