I think Powerglide stole this from Sgt. Slaughter.
Saw it today, and I honestly liked it. Most over the top action movie I have ever seen. Story wasn't too ambitious either, something that brought down RotF, and definately served it's purpose. HATED the Baroness though, and
the Doctor to Cobra Commander thing was just...Well, stupid, and it served no purpose. He really should have stayed the mad scientist type, and then let Cobra Commander be shown in the final scene, with Zartan reporting to him.
It was okay. C minus.
No wonder why the director isn't coming back for a sequel. I could tell there was some heavy editing. The pacing was mixed. I bet you there's going to loaded extra screens in the dvd release.
I was disappointed, but not disappointed in a gi joe fan way. I am not into joes but this movie line toys got me into them.
I expected it to be more...adult. Seemed a little tamed and really cheesy at times. Acting was bad for a lot of characters, although the wayne brother actually toned it down. He usually the one holler and screaming and acting an complete idiot. Nice to see he didn't overboard. They had a lot to work with and I was surprise that the backstorys wasn't as developed. The female leads were the ones that got it bad though. Loved breaker.
Action was good. It was too bad that people kept saying the fights between SE and SS was really good. It took away the wowness factor. It was extremely short fights between them too.
What I really expected was that as cobra was rising so was the formation of the joes. I really didn't expect that the joes were already established and it was a high tech battle against each sides. I think it would have worked a lot better that way, and I thought it would been that way from the trailers.
What I would have loved to see is that Sargent Stone fight against the guy who played Imhopet in the mummy. Would have been a nice and fun camo for the attack on the pitt.
that is NOT sgt. slaughter......i should kill you for saying that.....
It was single handed one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Physics do not exist in this movie.
you haven't seen lost skeleton of cadabra have you.....or you just don't watch too many movies
I have seen that, and yes I feel this movie is one of the worst simply by the amount of money and work they seemed to put into it, but the worst thing is even as silly and far-fetched as GI Joe can be, there's absolutely no sense of disbelief in this movie for even a moment.
The Baroness was hot
PS: The Baroness was sexy
PSS: The Baroness was awesome and bad ass and sexy.
I thought the Baroness was sexy until
they reviled she was Cobra Commander's sister and he was not only mind controlling her but whoreing her out to Destro and French scientist guy.
Then it was just weird, creepy and sad.
the Baroness can whore me anytime
On the plus side it does show how twisted Cobra Commander is.
just means he is no longer a used car salesmen and is now a pimp.
Sorry, I'm kinda new to the Joe fandom, like many others I was brought in by the movie.
Really? I think that helped turn me on more
G1Wheeljack, no need to be sorry, welcome
Thanks, and could you please inform me on whom it is Powerglide is stealing a PSA from?
Just watched it again with a friend of mine who does not even know anything about GI Joe. I think after the shock of seeing it the first time I got to pay more attention to it and its really not a bad movie, I would say its about as good as Transformers. It has it problems but thats every movie. Like i said before I cant wait for Part 2. ( I just hope its not going to be 21/2 hours haha)
I finally saw this.
I apologize if I repeat what others have said, but I am not going to read hundreds of posts.
It was not exactly what I was expecting -very much like a cartoon.
But it worked. They showed all the toys and there was an unapologetic focus on action.
I tried to "unlearn" what I knew of GI Joe and enjoy the film.
I was mostly successful, but it was a little odd that all the characters had their code names before they joined GI Joe.
Duke even referred to General Abernathy as "Hawk" before he was even aware of the team.
One thing that the comic portrayed perfectly was when Cobra Commander takes his mask off he could be anyone.
With his being a burn victim in the movie that aspect is removed.
However, they did establish him as a credible and threatening villain.
More than I thought they would.
My kid really liked the show -especially Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.
I'm glad they're making a sequel.
His name is Gung Ho
Separate names with a comma.
