And I only said it because of the tone she was taking.

My problem was that I expect a movie I see to be good, decent at least, not a craptastic recipe of wannabe Bond, X-Men and a good dose of Van Helsing suckfest thrown in for good measure, add Marlon Wayan's garbage brand of humor and bad acting and top with Special Effects that would have looked old 10 years ago that is the "New" G.I. Joe formula.

I thought the movie was decent, really loved the Paris scene.

I did'nt like those silver Joe jets or the submarines they were using, Baroness was lame and too young, Duke could'nt act for shit, and Cobra was shut down too fast.

I did like CC (he grew on me). Staying completely away from any spoilers beforehand really paid off. When Rex put on the mask and turned around.... I had a nerd moment there. Snake Eye's lips will always urk me

All the girls were kinda lame actually, but I liked the way Scarlett & cgi scarlett rode the bike like a nut. Also like how Stormshadow pinged those stars off the column.

I plan on buying the dvd and watching it more, plus Ive spent money of the figs, so it's served its purpose.

not to me they werent. they got the Eiffel Tower. they got the warheads, they got a man in a high place. if it wasnt for the Alpha Team of the Joes, those neo-vipers would wipe out a large percent of the joes before all being stopped.

The thing I'm wondering about... would people here loved it as much as we do now, if ROTF would have been something MUCH closer to the original TFs (G1, BW,A-E-C etc, IE blockier designs, no totally new characters, better plot, etc.)?

Perhaps we'd be ranting here how "much better Bay stayed true to the old Transformers unlike Summers who changed Baroness" etc, etc...

Still, I guess we will never know the answer to that question now, unless someone has a time machine and can get me Zemeckis to direct the Transformers movie, as it was planned originally... :)

Btw, to any big Joe fan: I recall, very foggy, from memory, that at least in some incarnation of GI Joe, Duke and the Baroness indeed had history together. Where was that?

I dunno, it seemed like a G.I. Joe movie to me. Two sides of highly trained and highly equiped forces waging a secret war? Check. Silly code names and simple characters? Check. Two ninjas with a blood fued? Check. I could go on.

Well, G.I. Joe in the long run had a fairly generic story. You had the good army and the bad army fighting a war with super high tech stuff, where the bad guys had a doomsday weapon and the good guys had to stop them. So "without the names" any G.I. Joe story could be any story. In the end, it's the names and characters that make G.I. Joe what it was in the 80s and what it is today. Because there have been many times when G.I. Joe was as generic as you could get. But in the end, this movie stuck pretty closely to the characters we grew to love back in the 80s ARAH days. So as a Joe fan, I enjoyed it. Except for the Baroness, she sucked...in the bad way.

I agree with everything said here. As for the sequel, I can totally see Tomax and Xamot as Cobra Commander's "lawyers" until he's released and set free again.

I'm gonna go with Jinx, as Helix don't seem asian. Who knows, maybe next time they'll give her a name!

Iirc, there was never any canon relationship between them. Baroness was always with Destro, though she did play others from time to time. And as I mentioned earlier, as far as I'm concerned, The Baroness and her story was the worst part of this entire film. I could stomach...hell I even like the Duke/Cobra Commander relationship, it adds that extra layer of rivalry to the conflict. But everything related to the Baroness's storyline, imo, is absolute garbage.

The major issue I have with this movie is that the action is so damn boring. Aside from the flashback scene in which Duke and Ripcord are in Africa, the action scenes seemed poorly directed. I love it when things blow up, but this was just mind numbing.

Nope, that was Neo-Viper #20. I resaw the movie today & managed to catch some stuff I missed, like The Doctor telling that to Destro as well as seeing Snake Eyes meet up w/Breaker & Scarlett to escape.
