    Updates from IGN Comics:

    - Blackest Night #4 cover and variant.
    - Green Lantern #46 preview

I don't recognize anyone on the BN #4 cover, but that preview gets a big "HELL YEAH" from me :bay  After 3 months, it finally feels like this event has gotten into gear.

The main guy is the original Copperhead I believe, and I think that is Maxwell Lord in the background with Doctor Light behind him. This must be all the dead villians attacking.

Between the preview and my finally reading "Sinestro Corps War," Sinestro is seriously becoming one of the most interesting villains I've ever encountered. He's done hoirrble things, but his reasons for them have this twisted nobility to them. It's great stuff.

No kidding, Johns has made Sinestro one of the major villains of the DC universe. It really is a second golden age for Hal fans. Thank you, Mr. Johns.

yeah. before GL rebirth i knew GL was a dude with a ring...that's about it...but man, this book has just rapidly shot up and maintained its number 2 position with me...almost made me consider it number 1, but invincible still beats it out...

Okay hearing about that Ring promotion is something I didn't hear when checking the upcoming books. (that or I skimmed over it) I have to say I'd love a collection of all of them.

On the fig front, have yet to see a pic of BL WW but I think it could be Diana's mom instead of her. Just a hunch. (though I do recall Nekron killing WW in Underworld Unleashed so who knows) Though I've decided to only pick up BL Firestorm on the Black Lantern front. I think he's got the coolest design. Others can probably guess and now I wish I didn't get the Star Sapphire of Wave 3 on the GL line.

Wasn't it NERON who killed WW's mother. Nekron is some obscure GL villain who was in one annual or something, and then never seen again. I had to ask my CBG about him, as it was before my time in reading GL related stories.

That's the Beauty of John's writings. He takes villains that have become lame or were lame, and makes them cool. He does the same with heroes. My favorite thing is that he does so with out making major changes to their origins or continuties.

Johns is very good at respecting established continuity and building on it, although there have been instances where he's just dumped stuff or made significant changes to a character's continuity. A good example of the former is the Cyborg Superman, where Johns tossed out all of his appearances post-Final Night; probably for the best, but still a big chunk of the Cyborg's history. An example of the latter would be Black Hand, who went from inventing his power siphon weapon to just having it dropped in his lap...and, IIRC, the death fetishist part of his character/origin is completely new.

That said, can't argue with the results. Sinestro's gone from "purple guy with a stupid costume and a yellow ring" to a deep, well-developed and intricate character; probably my favorite main player in the GL series right now. Black Hand went from C-lister (at best) to a significant player with an interesting motivation. The Cyborg Superman had basically been discarded until Johns revamped him. Etc.

Well, that´s not really true. Among GL fans there´s a term called "Geoffcon" since the dude tends to retcon a lot.

Retcon or not, the man has a knack for taking silver age concepts that haven't aged well, and are downright silly by today's standards, and making them cool. Just look at Black Hand. In the old days, he was a joke. Today's he's pretty hardcore.

You beat me to posting this. I'm stunned by the amount of hate some GL fans sling at Johns, but different strokes for different folks, I guess. I think I'm less of a stickler for comic continuity because I was introduced to superheroes through movies and TV. Once I was able to comprehend how Adam West and Michael Keaton could both be Batman, and that one's stories didn't affect the other, that set the standard for me.

I am a stickler for internal consistency though, and Johns has contradicted himself a couple times, which did bug me.

It kinda amuses me that now I can go to Toys R Us and buy an action figure of a necrophiliac murderer, and it's not even a McFarlane figure :p

GL 46 was even better...like, holy crap...i can't believe that happened...then like 3 more times it happened again...i love this book

and Titans 2 was good, but not as good...i think if i had read it first (which according to power levels i should've) i woulda liked it more...oh well...

Donna troy gets bit! Abin is back! Arin is back! Hal saying "Who the hell is Arin" was great. The Titans are getting wrecked...

i've got a huge feeling all the miniseries won't be tied up in their own books...it'll all flow back into BN 4 or 5 maybe...

EDIT: more opinions coming later, my students just walked in...
