I remember the original Punch/Counterpunch from back in the day and I remember only one commerical where Hasbro showed off Punch/counterpunch.

He was supposed to be a double agent spy or whatever for the Decepticons which I remember a little bit from the old commercial.

I wonder why IDW has never done anything with this guy? Or the clones (Pounce/Wingspan and Fastlane/Cloudraker) for that matter...

Okay, but if they do a NYCC "surprise, he's on sale now!" tomorrow, lowkey I'm not even gonna be mad.

I personally want to propose the use of Comic Sans for the sarcasm font. It's not like it's useful for anything else.

The SDCC toy panel. When Grotusque came out, it was in the situation I described, but during the panel at NYCC.

SDCC doesn’t start till July 19th, next Thursday. Hasbro’s panel will be that day, but I’d expect to hold their annual breakfest reveal and have a selection of reveals and info about the next Generations line right before that.

Sounds like they'll be doing teasers like we saw before last year's Hascon.

Every time I read this, I can't help but get the mental image of fans - some of then in cosplay - walking around a convention with bags under their eyes and lethargically eating bowls of cereal in hand while looking at toys. :lol

One of the huge wastes in my opinion. I think he could've easily fit into a lot of the war era stories, or even on the Lost Light. Not sure if it was Dreamwave who first came up with the change to his bio that the Counterpunch personality was beginning to take on a life of its own, but that would have been pure gold for the comics.

Wow that's the first I've heard of it! Definitely a huge waste. Here's hoping the next TF comic-verse makes good use of him if/when it comes about.

Tell me about it. I know I will be wide awake from pure excitement during the reveals, but I work second shifts and uuughhhhhhh I don’t want to get up that early.

I wonder if it would have been anything similar to Punch’s portrayal by Funpub, as both of his indentities started to run together and he couldn’t figure out which one was the real him anymore. That was always one of the best concepts the club ever came up with IMO.

Yeah. Did those lines have some big diverse level of different gimmicks like in the 80s? Or do they actually examples of the other extreme of having nearly none at all?

    Really? Which one?

Thrilling 30 era Generations had a diverse smorgasbord cast of characters, but for the gimmicks it was one Headmaster and one Double Targetmaster, and four Triple Changers who were actually only two Triple Changers because budget.

Studio Series actually has zero gimmicks, unless you count fancier boxes and higher MSRP as a gimmick.

TLK Generations has one Headmaster, who most likely was only exists as he is because Titans Return exists as a line, and one other guy whose head comes off but doesn't actually do anything. Oh, and an exclusive combiner who was actually a so-so retool of Transformers Prime Beast Hunters toy.

So really nothing on the level of the '87 or '88 toy catalog.

But it is. Because they're doing grab bag of different gimmicks depending on whether or not it fits the characters instead of mindlessly slapping it on everything for a "play pattern." Also yes SS does have a headmaster figure, and TLK did as well, which proves they can do headmasters whenever they please and not just because it has to be a linewide gimmick. Reusing the tooling for it isn't hard or expensive. Neither is including a targetmaster whenever they feel like it or doing a triple changer toy whenever they feel like it instead of doing the TR style of making every voyager a triple changer.
