Looks like planet x grimlock (cacus) will be out at the end of the year. Screenshot_20210505-012342_Messenger.jpg

Besides that, yeah MMC like my main collection now. With all knighter morphers, all reformatted (minus the 11 figures I don't like: insecticons(3), skylynx(2), predaking(6)) as well as I am now starting collecting the Infinite finity line. Besides that for legend scale TE for BW as well as IronFactory. But MMC has been killing it, and I love the fact they listen to what people want and would like change or fix. They really are an amazing company.

Man I don't know how I feel about this. He looks AMAZING. And Star Convoy has always been my favorite alt-Optimus design. But I got the Selects Star Convoy and am prinicpally a CHUG collector. He would replace my Selects Star Convoy, I guess?

What do you think. Is this for me?

Well, he's 33cm tall and intended for masterpiece scale. So if you're okay with him towering over most of your figures, he is really cool looking.

Well I guess if you want him to replace him. Otherwise you could just have 2 Star Convoys and one is standalone. If you put him with your CHUG stuff he’s just gonna be a lot more huge so there’s that to consider.

Well in the fiction, while Optimus Prime poper was "large normal sized Transformer" height and mass, the Star Saber, the Powered Masters and Star Convoy were always at or just below the size of Combiners. From the Transformers Scale project chart, Star Convoy is a little shorter than Devastator and a full head taller than Star Saber (and MP-24 is more or less in scale with CHUG and way underscaled with MP.... in scale MP Star Saber would be Titan-class sized).

So really even with him being MP-class in terms of quality, in terms of scale, he's too small. He'd need to be a head shorter than CW Devastator, which was intentionally done at actual MP scale by the designers as "MP-Adjacent".

    Absolutely agree.

I thought he punches in at the small combiner size like Star Saber so this offering by MMC will sit well with a chug collection.

I’m all over this. As much as I like the Gen Selects Star Convoy IMO he is just too short in bot mode. The same for the Super Megs that was released not long ago. They would work better with a legends scale collection.

At the end of the day, Im sure everyone can get this figure to work with their collection. Stellarus is pretty awesome. Will he have a similar level of posability as Optus Plexus? Looks like it from some of the images.

Ahhh.... The figure that was meant to release at the start of this year? The one I've had some of the most anticipation for, is only expected by the END of the year? Other than Vulcan recolor #4? and possible other metallic repaints, I wonder what else they could have in their pipeline slowing Cacus down?

I haven’t been following this figure, but I got to admit it looks really good. My only complaint, is that I wish the grill (both modes) wasn’t so simplified & toyetic.

It doesn’t look much like a grill at present, and could have used a bit more detail.

Transformers scale got weird the further the Japanese cartoons got away from Season 3. In Headmasters, Toei, who did most of the best looking episodes in Seasons 1-3, gave most everyone new character models with long legs based on the magna, which gave most characters a similar average height a little taller than US G1. Masterforce grows them a bit. In Victory, you suddenly have random low ranking Autobots and Decepticons being taller than Season 1 Optimus Prime. And I think that somehow came to mean Liokaiser was several times the size of Predaking. For some reason.

It reminds me of the propensity in US fiction to make things unnecesarily huge. Like the original 1960s USS Enterprise was 288 meters in length, but the JJ Abrams one from the 2009 movie, supposedly the same ship, was 725 meters in length. That was 80 meters longer than the Enterprise D from The Next Generation. Why? Who knows?!

And then the First Order Resurgent-class Star Destroyer from The Force Awakens is three times the size of the Imperial Star Destroyer. And the Sith Eternal Xyston-clas star destroyer from the Rise of Skywalker is twice the size of the Imperial Star destroyer despite having otherwise identical designs.

Heck, the Godzilla from the recent (and good) Legendary Godzilla movies is the biggest Godzilla ever.

There was really something to the more modest, original size of all these things.

Yeah idk it’s all fairly vague to me. I wouldn’t personally demand a Liokaiser have to be several times taller than Predaking. Or to buy a really small Predaking.

To be honest, I like to think of it as more a stylistic choice rather than a set true scale. Given that they designed all the characters a certain way based on certain traits. I don’t think the grand intention was to make everyone actually larger. It’s more that they can be seen as larger.
Biggest in live action yeah, but the official biggest is Monster Planet Goji from the anime series.

I read the battle stars manga and I couldn't really say I had a strong idea of how big star convoy was supposed to be. I simply assumed he would at least be same size as ginrai or starsaber given he's a similar power house character.

Then again if that mini rodimus his og toy came with is supposed to still be actual rodimus size? geezus man. That'd be a hell of an enormous truck that shit would require my entire fucking desk to sit on and like be a 5 grand mp toy haha its the same insane problem a "true" mp scale sky lynx would run in to. I feel like some transformers things just wouldn't work as actual toy products.

I'll be amazed if Fanstoys can actually make that Fortmax of theirs, it seems like the kind of ludicrous project that no third party would be able to budget without it being a sink hole for the company.

Got to agree. Always following scale is a fine idea until you put the thought in to how big some bots should be.

Have to say whilst the FanToys is a nice fairy tail to believe in reality would be insane. Besides I want the MMC IDW Fort Max so much more.

Ok god, where have you been...

    TL;DR
After doing their 3 main seekers, there was a big falling out with their sister company Maas toys, which caused them to go radio silent for a while. Since then they did a Sunstorm Kickstart with Terrible QC and a Failed Hotlink Kickstarter. They were presumed dead till about a year ago when they dropped Dirge and their Acid Storm is slowly releasing now, with plans to do a Starscream reissue.

Basically, they've been on and off for the last 2-3 years, really a shell of their former selfs.
