I think vertical is the word you're looking for.

I can get mine this far. I'm happy with that. Doesn't seem like it's the crane armature that's keeping it from completely closing.

I can prove that it is.

With Crane Boom fully horizontal in Bot mode, the hood can close fully.

As you can see the black rotational base is horizontal.
    IMG_3959.JPG

As you move the boom down to attach it to the back, the black "base" part will start rotating up and pushing the hood open. This picture shows the exact angle that the black piece starts to rotate upwards pushing the hood open.
    IMG_3960.JPG

Boom fully attached to the back, now you see the black rotation base has rotated up into the hood.

Mine's been at the post office for two days now. I can't take off work and they won't deliver it without a signature so I'm calling the post office in the morning to find out what they expect me to do. They left me a form to sign, I signed it, but they never took it and left the package. What gives? I can't get to the post office during the 4 hours that they're ever open and I can't be home to sign if I'm at work... ugh.. I wish this ebay seller wouldn't have made this quite so difficult. Hopefully I'll have mine in hand soon and will be able to know if there are any issues. Guess I shouldn't complain considering this guy was hard enough to find but good lord.....

I would suggest twisting the boom around on the black part as it does rotate. You will find that the whole part sits a lot better and in place this way. Pretty sure it was designed to twist like that.

I see what you are saying tho about clipping into the back part. I tried this as well and it did indeed require a little force to 'click' into place at the black part and then I could attach the crane to the back no problem.

I did have to push down a bit to force the click. maybe that is the issue.

Funny how both these figures were convention exclusives.

Just got my package today! Was a struggle getting him from my local post office for the past 2 days but I finally got him. I'm pleased thus far. Haven't messed around with him a whole lot yet but give me some time. Haha. Now I'm glad I made this purchase. Thank God for eBay sellers.

Edit: Sorry for the side way photos, uploaded from my phone.

Argh...... got mine yesterday and he seems to have a smattering of small QC issues. The big one is that silver hook piece is majorly bent to the right so it hangs down at an unnatural looking 45 degree angle. One of the truck mode stabilizer legs is also SUPER tight and doesn't seem to want to pull out all the way. Other than those issues the back crane housing that forms his hood looks kinda gappy as others have mentioned but I have definitely transformed it correctly as per the pictures shared further up thread. I also have some tabs that are just a little too big for the holes they plug into so its causing the plastic to shave a bit.

It's a really nice figure, my first experience with the mold, and I'm not disappointed by anything but the quality.

I have absolutely the same issues, besides that mine has a scratch on the front windshield (inside, not outside - so for sure it was not my fault)

Your Boom is backwards. Do you still have the gap in the hood? I can't tell from the angle of your picture.

Yes, the boom is backwards and everything fits together nicely. Just making this as a suggestion if you can't get it in the other way.

I was able to get mine to work no problem the 'correct' way as well. As I say, just really needed a little bit of force to make it 'click' in place.
