This figure just makes me happy. I love the AE86 and having a transformer to fit the alt mode is really nice. i have the other mmc drift, and he's really nice, but its a cybertron alt form, which is pretty accurate and works. he works best with a idw cast though. he doesn't fit in as much with the G1 cast that i have. This alt mode feels a lot more in sync with the G1 cast, as if he was part of the original series. And i can't wait to add him to my collection.

Same here, I've been quietly waiting for a company to do something neat like an Trueno figure. So I'm very excited for this release, just too bad it's hardly worth viewing this thread because 90% of it is people complaining...

i think we all just want something to talk about that has to do with this figure! haha. i know some have gone off on tangents...barely tangents but i guess that always happens. What hasn't happened yet and i am surprised (unless i missed it), is that nobody has seemingly taken a guess and digibashed/colored mmc's prototype pics into what we think it'd look like. if i had the skills i'd do it but i'm just not at all skilled in that way. for now i'll be content with googling "what if drift was released in g1" for inspiration. haha. So i hope the regular forum digibashers crash this party soon and have at it because this thread (and me) could use it! haha

If the digibash is done, I’d like to see them do both hood colors. White and black. I wonder if the hood color being black would affect the color layout for drift.

Nah, I am old as fuck and I love the look of modern sport cars... I am not blinded by nostalgia. The only old cars that I find appealing are the muscle cars

OMG what an ugly ass car... Sometimes I forget that Drift turns into that...

    Beautiful!

See, on the other hand, I'm 21 and prefer the old sports cars. I find the boxier aesthetics very cool. Modern ones look too much like wacky concept art to me. It may be because my main exposure to car culture is through transformers, though.

I'm in the same boat. To further elaborate, older cars seem to value more than just hp and fancy electronics that die as soon as the warranty expires. Take the Honda City: a little car with a cooler in the dash that fits a folding/TRANSFORMING bike in the back?? Find me a modern car that does anything half that cool. Not to mention the cheaper price (at the time, good luck finding a well kept retro car for cheaper than anything today) and ease of maintenance from smart engineering.

It’s “iconic” (because of a cartoon), and it’s okay, I guess. I am personally also not a fan of many 80’s cars (yes, that prety much includes the entire G1 lineup. I like dem bot-modes though!)

90’s and early 2000’s for sure though.
