I've been playing Ocarina of Time for the first time for a bit to help pass the time for Brawl, and the ocarina really captured my attention. It sounds like a flute, and I've always been fond of the flute but they're too expensive. I actually want to play an ocarina, any sites that have a good one for a good price? I've been searching on eBay, I really like the 5-holed sweet potato w/ the Triforce on it, but it looks like it can only play an octave, is that enough?
songbirdocarina.com That's where you want to go. And ocarinas don't have a large range. One octave is eight notes (oct = 8). Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do, for example. A couple of Songbird's ocarinas have a slightly extended range - a couple more notes. So yeah, it's slightly limiting, but people manage.
I got regular ocarina (ie... not blue, with the triforce, and all that jazz), from here http://larkinthemorning.com/
