I'm confused though: Didn't we last see Obsidian ruling over his tech-only area on Cybertron, along with Strika and maybe others? Now he's in jail. What am I forgetting here?

 

Oh, they managed to tech-up about a quarter of the planet but they had to spend up the majority of the Vehicon army (and it was just Obsidian doin' so), meanin' the rest of the Vehicons got scattered and easily captured and Obsidian almost got away.





..... I am so lookin' forward to seein' a non-Vehicon aligned Cybertronean being all happy getting to go back to techy look, whether or not everyone agrees with him/her. X3 And him/her not bein' the only one.

 

Way back when, in like 2006 I first joined TFW and eventually came across this comic. At the time I wasn't too interested in the BM story, but this comic changed that and was the first fan made photocomic I've ever read. It was also the best. Not only was it one of the best fan-fictions I've ever read, it was one of the best *Transformers* fictions I've had the pleasure of reading.

Now it's been years since I read a photocomic, life, new jobs etc have all made it a bit more difficult for me to follow these things. But on a random whim, a middling fit of nostalgia, I decide to pop back into the Funnies forum and what do I see on the first page?

A brand stinkin new update to Obsidian's Lament.

And with just two short pages, I remember exactly why I was so amazed at this web-comic all those years ago. This comic just screams quality. Quality writing, quality effects and quality art. And yes, these images are art, you manage to take simple often terrible looking toys and make them not only look good, but blend them seamlessly into a virtual world made of tin-foil and photoshop. That's a feat many people try, but the vast majority fail at. Even many of the other better story tellers in the Funnies are incapable of completely immersing their stories into the completely crafted world we see in Obsidian's Lament.

Ya think Hasbro would be upset if you ran a Kickstarter to get this story in print form? Because I would totally pay to have a Trade Paper Back version of this story on my comic shelf.

Slowly but surely...

 

Just wanted to do his duty, even if has lead him to... being not able to do anything now.

 

Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Obsidian's pain might be easier to bear if he had been the one in control, but leadership was not his.

 

I really have to get caught up on the new stuff.

It was this that brought me to the site in the first place years ago.

 

Can't wait to see the finished product.

 

So, you're asking, where has this story gone? Three pages? Is that it? No, and Obsidian will be returning soon.

It's been an interesting month and a half for me. I lost my job of 10 years in the middle of March, and my focus understandably shifted to finding a new one at that point. The story was put very much on the back burner. I am employed again, and now that the new normal routine is underway, I'm planning to get back to Obsidian and Battle Unicorn. Sorry for the abrupt break and long delay, but life very much threw me a curve ball and I just didn't feel much like making comics. My intention is to continue and post before the end of the week.

Finding a new job in about one month....that's impressive.

There's nothing like trying to work on pages and dialogue with the kids constantly running back and forth and saying "hey daddy!" or "daddy, look at this!"  

 

Mmmmh nice recappin' so far, unless if that's what happened after the story? Since more of the population's tech unless if the Maximals still tried to enforce rules against'em. Yup, not acting like certain groups out there =3
