Hey gang! Heard about this contest and this site through a great friend of mine around the last min, so I really had to rush this lol

My original character Obelisk! Initially I named him Lockdown, but I learned recently that there is a robot in the new animated series with the same name, so I had to change it, and.... Erector didn't really seem appealing : C So enter Obelisk!

My character actually changes into a Caterpillar pile driver, but seeing out I couldn't find an actual one on the internet, we'll all have to use our imagination : D

I've basically gathered likable parts from 4 different pile drivers I've found on the net, and just mashed those parts into this bad boy.

Obelisk is a triple changer, when he is in robot mode, he can actually maneuver with great agility because his 2 powerful legs allow him the movement and speed similar to an ostrich.

When he changes to battle mode, he'll sport as a tripod artillery. His giant hands will drill and lock into the ground, the twin turbine engines will shift down, while his rear will rotate towards the front. As the rear rotates to the front, they'll join together and lock into a long cannon. In essence, transforming into one giant, fast moving artillery for the Decepticons : D

As for the choice and design for this character, I've always loved Constructicons and as well as construction vehicles, and I always wanted to see what a pile driver might turn into, seeing that the giant column part of those machines look like a giant cannon already hah hah

I used 1 program (Photoshop CS) to create this from scratch, I painted this right on my cintiq 12" without having to scan any traditional drawings in prior to this.

NOICE. Interesting physical structure...kinda' makes me think of Spittor!

 

I love the robot design (walking with his arm all Sebulba-like). I like his alt. modes. I love the name (Obelisk > Lockdown). I love those cannons on his back. I like that he looks like he's grinning. And I like those drills in his hand/feet. This is definitely my favorite so far.

He reminds me of a smaller, better-designed movie Devastator.

 

That's a very creative design, Jin - you've got the Bayformers aesthetic down pat, too!  

 

This is nice! A great new concept design and we now have a two-armed no legged Decepticon! xD Very nice details there, and I'm sure he has less balancing issues compared to Demolisher.

Well to put it simply the legs are formed by the arm part of the 'yellow pile driver' and it folds out to what you see here. The massive drills at the bottom of each feet can be used either for melee combat or to lock Obelisk firmly to the ground when he's in his tripod mode : )

Very cool! I like how he walks with his arms like that. The drills are cool, I've always liked the idea of drill-weapons. The construction worker is funny too.
