Not a big fan of the movie lines, but since the chances of a full Dinobot team from Hasbro any other way seem slim I figured better get Dinobots while the getting is good. One of the packaging differences I've noticed is that now they list how many steps are required in transforming the figure. So what do people think of this change is it good, bad, or some other response to the packing change? Will it effect your choice when it comes to getting a Transformer for your kids, nephews, nieces, or other kids you buy Transformers for?
I like it--I think it's more informative than the general 1,2,3 difficulty levels they have been using for a while. I just wish they still included tech specs
I like packaging, but I don't really care about a small section saying how many steps. It doesn't bother me.
Don't care. I don't keep the packaging and I never cared for tech specs as I always end up doing my own fiction. I'm more bothered by the shortness of the bios myself.
I like packaging but also don't know what the number of steps is supposed to tell me. Prolly want more than 5 but after that I just care that the transformation is fun and satisfying. Also, not much beats a spoon. Bacon. Maybe.
I take it as an insult beyond the packaging. If they're trying to advertise it as being easy to transform, you can bet your ass they cut a bunch of stuff on the figure to make it easy for all ages.
I just realized that on my deluxes' packaging it is a sticker--one of them is peeling and it looks like their was something similar underneath, but I haven't peeled any off yet to see. Weird.
Ohhh, I see! You use the number of transformation steps to differentiate the Generations Deluxes from the Power Battlers! It makes so much sense now!
Don't think it is on there for kids. They went from Easy, Intermediate, Hard (something to that affect) for Deluxe, Voyager, and Leader respectively to a sliding scale with better instructions and directions for both conversions to this (likely and somewhat stated at one of the conventions) because parents were frustrated. ROTF had some pretty complex transformations, and there were numerous parents I would see in the Transformers aisle who would tell me that their kids toy was half transformed, and they couldn't figure the damn thing out for their kid. I don't bother reading the packages.
If the steps were actually close to a real indication of difficulty then they would be alright. But when 1 step could be flip one small panel down, its meaningless. More importantly who is the genius that decided to have the instructions for most voyagers tell you how to transform the figure INTO the version its shipped in already or why deluxes show both ways and voyagers only one.
I don't care about the packaging since I recycle it. From a non-collector's standpoint though I do believe it is a good thing. If a grandparent is shopping for their grandkid I can see the # of steps being a good thing for them.
I couldn't care less whether its there or not. Honestly its probably helpful for parents who might have been burned by RoTF toys and would like to know how complicated a toy is. It's easy for us collectors to tell whether a Transformer toy is aimed at us or simplified for the kiddos but that's not really the case for parents shopping for their kids.
