Drive's Nicholas Winding Refn Chosen To Direct The Equalizer Movie With Denzel Washington - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors If I think of anyone to play McCall having seen the original series, I think british and more along the lines of Micheal Cane. It was a show in the 80's for those who never saw it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uB1NiNKwueE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzwVsy4Oe-0
I don't think a remake is needed, and yeah, I think British as well. But Denzel can pull off an aging former agent well, I think. With him in it, it's pretty much guaranteed to be at least decent. He doesn't pick bad movies for the most part. So the script must have been promising.
You know, the only thing I remember about the Equalizer, is the intro. I am a Denzel fan, though, so if this is even slightly Man-on-Fire-ish, then I'm there. Since they've got the director from Drive (another favorite), then this could be awesome.
Fair point. I just hear remake and start worrying as it is usually a pale comparison to the original. I'll wait till I see the trailer to judge.
They were in talks about doing a new TV series on TNT, but Robert B Parker died, not sure what happened after that. A new writer has taken over the book series. Haven't heard anything since. I wish they would put the TV series on DVD. They only have the TV movies available.
Yeah, same here. I've been waiting pretty patiently. Some of the episodes can be watched online. Not on Hulu, but Hulu used to at least have the link, before they went to shit. Now I forget where to find them. As for the books, I'm not going to read any of the non-Parker ones. As far as I'm concerned, that series (and Jesse Stone) is over.
I started getting a little disillusioned when Parker stopped aging the characters. One of the appeals of the series for me was watching the characters grow and age. I mean, Spenser was middle aged already right from the first book. Paul seems to have kept aging, but Spenser, Susan and Hawk stopped. A situation that kind of reminds me of Batman and the various Robins. Batman is frozen in time, and the Robins all slowly close the gap in age. But I was kind of looking forward to seeing how Parker planned to have Spenser and Hawk come to grips with their advancing age. Having Spenser deal with the first fight he once would have won but now couldn't. That would have been real drama, and would have shaken the series loose of the formula it had kind of settled into. But now, it will never happen. I still enjoyed all the Parker books, though.
I still haven't seen any of them, although I've always meant to. I know from reading reviews and stuff that the tv movies are pretty different than the books, so I'm ready for that. Spenser For Hire was pretty different, too, so I can deal. It's only in the novels that I don't want to read another author's vision of the characters.
