...does anybody have a feeling that their MP collections are, more or less, 'complete' in a sense that, if the line were to drastically change in the near future, you'd be ok with what you've got?

Poorly worded, but for myself, once I have Megatron I'm pretty much done with my 'core' MP TF collection. I'm sure we all knew that an update to MP5 would see the light of day, but it was quite the delay. My original MP goals were just the 'main' characters. That turned into 'all on-screen Sunbow first three seasons and movie' category, with a smattering of other figures that really made me interested.

In fact, if I were to simplify my collection even further, I'd say that the main iconic characters would be enough for me wrap things up. Truth be told, if all I had were Prime and Megs? I'd be ok with that   ...but then that would spread to Bee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Wheeljack...and Cons would need Soundwave, the seekers, Shockwave. There....THAT would then the be 'secondary OK line'  

But after Megs, the only things I'm really going to be super-excited for are the possibility of future MP Insecticons and Constructicons. As for Autobots, guys like Jazz and Sunstreaker are high on my list (Mirage too) but after that, it's just completionism (not a dirty word in my opinion; it's completionism within my own definition, rather than 'gotta get it all').

Anybody else feel this way?

 

I'm not done and plan on buying many more MP's in the future. However, if there ever was a time to say: "The collection is complete", it's when I get Megatron and put him besides Prime.

 

It's not even complete for people who only collect things from the 1984 checklist. The other 5 Minibots as well as TrailbreKer, Hound, Jazz, Sunstreaker, and Mirage all still need accounted for.

It ain't close to being over until I get my Masterpiece Vroom and Doubleheader  

 

Not getting the new MP Megatron but I feel my MP display is almost complete right now anyway. Most of the important characters (to me anyway) are already covered.

 

Actually my MP collection has only just begun  

 

Mine's "done" when Downbeat arrives. If TT wants to make a few more Carbots I actually feel like buying (including their own versions of Jazz/Mirage/Hound etc) that's fair enough and I won't complain, but in terms of essentials for me......Jazz will complete that Journey.

No. I would like to get every Season 1 & 2 character in MP form. We are getting pretty close when you add in 3rd party figures. I've also started Season 3 main cast in MP form. Still no MP Arcee from anyone.

While I've got 3P Chromedome and Hardhead, I won't be complete with post-Season 3 characters. No real nostalgia for most of them.

 

Now they got you crave Prime 3.0 to match...

 

My MP collection is far from complete. But having MP Megatron provides a nice pair of "bookends" for my MP collection where if I suddenly had to stop collecting, I'd be more satisfied with what Id have with both an Optimus and Megatron in it.

 

Megatron will go right where Starscream is, of course, with Starscream lying on his back underneath Megatron's foot.  

 

I'm nowhere close to being done. I have Masterpiece Optimus Primal in my collection and Masterpiece Cheetor will be mine in the near future. I want to see the rest of my childhood characters given the Masterpiece treatment.

 

My MP collection will never be complete. I love obscure characters. I don't think I will ever see MP Scrounge.

It is nearing complete for me. Megatron was the really big hole, but the MP decepticons are missing a few others. I really want MP Astrotrain and Blitzwing. Also, Jazz, Hound, and Mirage. I will probably feel that I am done at that point.

 

Megatron fills a big hole in the collection, no doubt, but I'm not even close to finished with MP. I want a complete 84-86 lineup, with a smattering of post-86 characters; between Takara and 3P, I'll get there. I also look forward to more Beast Wars MPs.

 

Very close. I only collect official MP and the coneheads and Megatron have completed my MP Decepticons but my MP collection would not be complete without Jazz!!! Hound too I think. From there I could hang it up.

Having said this, should the following be released I would also look to purchase them but they are not essential to me:

Trailbreaker
Sunstreaker
Blitzwing

Plus I could not say no to Skyfire even though I still feel him to be unlikely.

 

Man, I am rationalizing my plastic crack addiction all the time. I had heard so many good things about the Fans Toys Iron dibots, but I knew if I bought one, I'd have to buy the other 4. I can't say that Megs comes anywhere close to completing my collection because there are so many of the Ark crew that have not been done. So far, I've been able to justify not purchasing the conehead seekers and I am okay with the first three. In fact, I think I would I could pass on a new mold of seekers and justify one purchase. I have a MP 3 Skywarp and MP 11 Starscream and Thundercracker and I'm okay with my collection having that variety.

But, with Takara stringing us along, I won't be able to let it go for awhile.

 

My initial goal was to complete an 86 movie lineup.

I'm up to like... three? :S

Meanwhile I've gotten into completionist mode for the entire G1 line so my wallet is doomed for many years to come anyway.
