I have to admit with all the homages to TF Animated in the AOE movie, I am really revved to watch TF Animated. Granted it may look silly to me, but from what I hear the stories are well done so I am willing to give it a try. Anyone inspired to check out TFA?

TF Animated was my favorite TF series. It had a great story and great characters!

AGREED. Plenty of nods and references to Transformer history, while still crafting new and interesting story lines.

Its really the only animated cartoon containing Transfromers I can remember watching faithfully.

It's just a brilliant series all around. Shame it didn't get its fourth season.

It's worth the watch. It starts off slow in the begining (has some dud episodes) but it truely got great in Season 3.

I picked the third season up at target the other day cuz my stupid teen self was so obsessed about revenge of the fallen coming soon, i totally forgot about animated. I wish i watched it when it first aired even more now that I watched it, and it truly could have gone for atleast two more seasons. It also got me even more excited for lockdown

Just to let you know, Lockdown doesn't have the gunface in animated.

TF Animated is better than the Bay films, even though I do rather Bay's robot designs and style.

Even though tf animated is still confusing and there are a few logic issues, you can definetly tell they put some good thought into the stories

I like expressive characters designs. The show has some obvious Generation One love behind it.

Come to think of it. The movie reallly does not explain lockdown to well.
Fans of the Animated Universe probably did get the most out of it.

I was shocked when he grabbed Optimus Prime with the iconic animated lockdown hook for his trophy room (In AOE).

I am extremely happy I was able to finish watching TFA (the complete series is now finally available to buy as a set, and for a reasonable price to boot) before watching this film!

Having seen most of the original cartoon and all of TFA beforehand, I got most/all of the obvious nods and references to other continuities. It wouldn't have hurt to not know them, but it really increased my geek factor by being able to recognise the visual and musical references. (I want that G1 ringtone!)

If the art style of TFA doesn't bother you, definitely pick it up.
If the art style does bother you (it really did for me, and still does), definitely pick it up.

TFA reinvents a lot of aspects of previous TF stories and puts it's own spin on things- yet keeps everything important for TF and blends them with great story arcs. The dialogue, personalities, voice acting and plotlines are wonderfully done.

P.S. TFA Megatron is by far the most lethal and intelligent Megatron I've encountered in any TV series or movies.

Great series and even the toys are excellent and faithful to the art style.

The only thing that I didn't like was the autobot rank thing, really a prime isn't the highest rank.

TF Animated is beautiful. It was by fans, for fans. Tons of nods to older series', obscure Japanese characters. There was a poll on these very boards several years ago with "Who do you want to see in TF Animated season 3?" I half-jokingly said "Star Saber, Dai Atlas and Sky Garry." Damned if all three didn't show up in background cameos somewhere.

If you don't like silly things, season 1 will be a little hard to get through, with the exception of Lockdown's episode.

The show really gets interesting in season 2.

    Fixed ;)

And yeah, you should watch it. It's different, but you'll be able to tell that it was made by people that love Transformers.

I feel the opposite. That Lockdown episode was the hardest one to get through. Otherwise, it's a fun series to watch

I'm happy to hear that, and hopefully many others follow suit when they think "Where'd Lockdown come from?" For one.

Animated is the best TF show we ever got. Definitely deserves more attention, and having an character who originated from there as the main antagonist of this film was great.

Tf animated was awesome. Gave the scene between ratchet and lockdown in the movie something "extra"
