Novastorm I hate the battle damage on the Rainmakers. Alcohol will not budge it and I did not want to go down the rabbithole of paintmatching. So with A LOT more time on my hands I got out some 800 grit automotive sandpaper and went to the plastic. I moved up to 1000 grit and 2000 grit an then polished the plastic with Acrylic scratch remover and polish compound. It took 7 hours. No joke. But totally worth it for the clean seeker. I have not tackled the other two yet. I added Toyhax labels which really helped break up the look. I painted the red and white stripes with testors model paints. For the Decepticon wing emblem I dremelled some detail out for a bigger faction sticker. So the stickers looked nice and flat I stuck them to a piece of clear packaging plastic first and then cut out the emblems then glued it to the wings. The top fin Toyhax included is perfect for completing the tetrajet look. In the cartoon they have regular null rays so I gave him some from NonNef productions. Lastly I gave him Metallic red eyes by opening his head and sticking in spare foil stickers. Oddly all the seekers eyes are not symetrical, but are good on Hotlink. Hotlink Really feel lucky to have found him. I grudgingly had to stop into a Walmart to pick up storage totes and happened to see him there! I really wanted Hotlink and a week ago was in a bidding war over him. I dropped out at $100 Canadian. He pegs together much tighter than the others. I gave him the NonNef null rays and one of my other Rainmaker fins. Seems Toyhax is closed for the time being due to the pandemic so will have to wait to get another set. Hotlink jumps the cue though! I wanted to give him a flamethrower but didn`t want to get too complicated with something handheld. In the cartoon we see him so fast it seems to me that it could just come out of his wrist. That happens a lot in the old cartoon. In one instance his brother seeker Skywarp retracts his fist to release a fire extinguisher as he trys to put out a fire on the Decepticon cruiser (ep 4 I think) so it stands to reason to me. I cut the end off of Siege Reflectors gun and added a mushroom peg so it could be swappable. It can stay in place in alt mode. I also removed the hose from Galactic Man and added a 5mm peg on the cut end. I figured having the fuel come out of the tetrajet thruster made sense. Still trying to figure out where it stores in alt mode. I like the hose because it homages Shockwave`s. Infact both hotlink and shockwave could be using energon conduits. I will probably give him Toyhax stickers without any paint removal. The battledamage looks pretty good and it seems that all the purple is painted onto black so I would just ruin him. Next some long sanding sessions with Ionstorm and Acidstorm. Thanks for looking.
I love the mods you did to them, tbh I wish I had even a little ability to modify but sadly I can't paint or dremel them worth anything ( I have carcasses to prove that ). Afaik though toyhax is still open and doing orders, it's just slowed down due to them working at home and being safe.
