Rewatching movies and shows lately and I'm not enjoying them as much as I used to. I ask this, how many viewings does it take before you start noticing a lot of flaws?
the flaws in movies do not matter, if the movie is entertaining enough to keep me enjoying it. the accuracy of the translation does not matter to me, if it is entertaining. the effects being terrible do not matter, if they are entertaining. the actors do not matter if they are being entertainment. whether or not the story meets the accuracy of the source material does not matter either. As long as it is all entertaining. Flaws are only a problem if a film is failing to keep me entertained. If a film is good, than I can watch it a 1000 times and not care about the flaws. if the movie is terrible, then I'm noticing all the flaws. Because that is all the movie has going for it. But, if you are going to stop watching movies, tv shows, anime, cartoons, and ect because of flaws, then might as well just stop watching everything. Because it is all flawed.
Usually 2 viewings is all I need. The first viewing is when everyone forms their, "this is good" or "this sucks" opinion. If I hate a movie or find there's something irking me, I might give it a 2nd watch to try & figure out where it went wrong. Unless it's blatantly obvious on the first go. So yeah- 2 viewings max to determine the major flaws of a movie.
Usually 2. 1st time, I'm concentrating on the story. 2nd time, i know the story so i can think more about flaws that come to mind. Although if i see the same thing soon after, i just find myself getting bored for most of it, no matter how good it is.
It depends on how flawed something is. Most movies take at least two viewings. Something like Van Helsing or The Force Awakens only takes me one.
Transformers movies come to mind, I'll say 2 views. Because you already seen the visuals and realize there not much to them....
Plot holes take about 1-3 viewings. Weird mistakes like the stormtrooper who bumps his head in ep.4 took me a while.
It can take two to three viewings, or just a break and replaying some moments in my head. It can become very problematic and ruin a film or show that I might have initially enjoyed. I consider that an upgrade, considering I used to watch shows for years and not notice traits that I disliked. I noticed the new season of Samurai Jack starting to suck right away.
^ This. I don't really try to or notice any flaws in a movie and instead sit through it for the experience and joy of it. Its why I'm able to sit through and love every single Michael Bay Transformers movie.
