I searched for a thread, but couldn't find any.

    Apologies if there is one.

Anyway, who had the I-Gear Ark playset/diorama back in the day? (2010/11ish?)

I did, it wasn't worth the $175? USD that I paid for it. It would fall apart from the gentlest breeze going by.

I happened to be looking for TF backgrounds on ebay, when I came across this:

iGear Computer Control Center - used in box- Transformers 3rd Party Teletraan I

    Nearly $2000 dollars for...THAT?

Or am I wrong, and it really is worth that much? Maybe my memory is faulty, and it was perfect.

    ...

    And this:

    X2Toys XT013 Frozen & Starlight Starscream & Jetfire Set of 2

Worst case of partsforming I've ever seen.

A triple-changer HeadMaster at that size being a lot of partsforming isn't a legitimate complaint, imho. Those figures are at the very limit of what plastics technology can do in a lot of ways and they deserve to be respected as a noble attempt that wasn't quite satisfactory.

I felt so bad for that guy (not because of Jobby's review per se, but just how it turned out in general). You could tell this was obviously a passion project and he had to have sunk so much money and time into getting this thing made. In the end, he bit off waaaayyyy more than he could chew (more than any one person really) and rather than take a step back and re-evaluate things he decided to release an unfinished and unrefined product unto the world. I can relate, is what I'm trying to say.

Off the top of my head:

Planet X Ultra Magnus has a hinge joint in his torso where a peg has to click through a hole in the hinge for him to collapse into vehicle mode properly. Maybe it's just my copy but I could not for the life of me get that peg to click, even after filing the hole as much as I'd dare to. He still looks great in bot mode, but not being able to transform properly is definitely a black mark.

I was not a fan of the X2 Toys Autobot Clones. They only felt hefty because of the die cast upper legs. The plastic was shitty, and the transformation was way over complicated. Especially Cloudraker. You had to force parts around themselves on his legs that damaged the plastic; no way around it.

They looked good posed on a shelf. That's all.

Too be fair, after I did the fixes on mine, he’s been absolutely golden. So much so that I never felt like “wasting” the money on the v2 they made.

    ———

I’m decently selective with my purchases, so I don’t have any real horror stories to share.

I’m honestly trying to think hard whilst I am typing up this message — if I was “forced” to choose something, maybe .. it would be … erm …

XTB’s Streetwise’s … shoulders?(!?! No idea. Best I could do!)

That reminds me of commercials for shitty products on tv, where 'actors' will misuse the competing product in the most absurd & deliberately incompetent ways.

But the toy can't be as bad as the reviewer makes it out to be, can it?

    NOPE!

I want someone else to take a stab at those two, plus the decepticon clones...Preferably in legends size.

ToyWorld Devil Star (not-Astrotrain) is a hot floppy mess. Hated that figure. Most fun I had with it was tossing it in the bin.

Jobby is a bit dramatic, but he is also very honest in critiquing a figure. Gladius really is that bad, sadly.

I'm glad to read that you got a good one ;) . My V1 Ollie is still being held together by super glue which, ironically enough, is the only thing that works as intended with that figure. If anyone thinks I'm joking or exaggerating, I'm not.

So yea XTB Ollie V1, DACA Kronos and XTB Apollyon are my top 3 in that order and before anyone comes in and says their Polly was all roses and sunshine congrats, mine was a total cluster fudge nugget.
