I cannot, CANNOT see a brand as well-known and profitable as twinkies going unowned for long. I very much think that someone will purchase the rights to twinkies in an asset sale if they go bankrupt, which is basically what they say in the article.

Makes you wonder if the brands do go away, how much will boxes be selling for on E-Bay. During the last strike and when supplies were low on the shelves, they did sell higher than normal retail if I remember correctly

Tallahassee is going to go mega-rage mode.
    :lol
(2 chipmunk pts to those who get that reference)

    Is nothing sacred anymore?

I'm not surprised that another "union" is in the middle of another business mess.

This made me remember 'Zombieland', a world where twinkies are becoming extinct.

I haven't had one in at least 10 years, and have no desire to have one. Though, the afternoon talk show I was listening to yesterday was giving them away to listeners.

I have never seen Twinkies in real-life, but I would like to taste them because of Zombieland!

Do they even sell twinkies outside the US? I've never seen them.

No you're right about that. However, lets assume someone like Little Debbie buys the rights to the name "twinkie". They'll just slap it on the side of a box of their version of twinkies. They'll call it a twinkie. But it will not be a twinkie.

Without trying to drag things into a political discussion, the article posted does not delve into the reasons and motivations behind the strike, and it seems like they have some pretty reasonable greivances. The history of the company in the last 10 years does not appear to be an example of a well-managed company, I'm sad to say. It could be the company simply wasn't able to survive it's first restructuring, and that noone's at fault, however.

I was going to say "try zellers", but then I remembered... Yeah, they exist, especially at local convenience stores, but I don't know if that's just in my area.

I'm usually a bit of a "leftie," but for some reason, I think this is fair.

I'm not worried about Twinkies or Ding-Dongs, because, as others have said, someone will buy the rights (and maybe the recipe) to produce them.

Hostess warned the Unions that if the employees don't return to work, that this would happen. The Unions probably thought it was a bluff, but I guess it wasn't. 9 times out of 10, these things end with a new deal for the Unions, but this will be the one time that everyone loses.

I would guess no. Whenever I read about it, it reads like it is an US product only.

They will be back. They will sell the IP and Recipe and another company will bring them back. I feel for the people that agreed to work with Hostess and get back to work, they lost their jobs because of the other people.
