Just wait. Soon, Tuner Skids will be warming the pegs along with his twin.
I hope not. I like Deluxe Skids, and his Tuner redeco is interesting... almost better, dare I say it! Definitely not like Mudflap in those regards.
I'm generally not a fan of buying the same mold, same character, just different paint job. I think everyone who wanted a Mudflap got one in the first assortment. This was just one of those live-and-learn mistakes. Hopefully they don't repeat it for TF3.
No, no love for Mudflap. And with good reason.
When ROTF Dx Mudflap was released in our country, it soon became VHTF. But when Christmas season came, there was a deluge of it in the stores. I guess everyone who wanted one already got one so there was a glut, then Dx Tuner Mudflap was released, becoming a legendary shelfwarmer...
I think it has to do with color too. I always hated mudflaps color scheme in general. That said I finally warmed up and got him, and the repaint. Skids just has a much cooler and and dynamic color scheme going on. Mudflaps is kinda a boring vehicle. Oh yeah it's the same in my area. Both versions of mudflap everywhere.
Mudflap should die in a fire.
i'm gonna get one in the mail, i'm sure of it from the deluxe giveaway, i hope it is a tuner one so i can get a tuner skids later on, it will drive me NUTS if i get that mudflap and don't have skids to go with him
anyways, i got the first release and he is alright, i just don't touch him, he stays on the shelf with his brother
So I was at Wal-Mart today doing some grocery shopping when I came across the same fleet of MudFlap's. Decided to pick one up for the hell of it. Then, I look at the back of his package and saw how stupid his head looks and I put him back on the peg.
I wonder if it's his head that is keeping other people from buying him.
I think they should donate these unwanted Mudflaps to children in need.
Probably that and by the time the Tuner one hit the first version was already discounted, so in that case which would most people choose if they just wanted the mold/character?
Maybe it's because Mudflap is A) A pretty sucky toy that doesn't hold together well in robot mode, B) A craptastic, annoying character who, along with his brother, makes Jar-Jar Binks look completely inoffensive, and C) Suffers from Hasbro's seeming dislike for repaints that make the character look too different from their regular colors. All-in-all, Mudflap and TUner Mudflap are shelfwarmer material. Also, I hate him and his brother
Every series has it's a peg warmers. I picked up Tuner Mudflap only after Target lowered the price to $3.48.
The Tuner Mudflap glut is probably the combination of a couple of things:
- The Twins didn't turn out to be as popular as Hasbro likely expected.
- The Deluxe Mudflap mold isn't very good to begin with.
- The 'Tuner' redeco isn't very different from the original release, especially to the casual buyer.
- The original release shelfwarmed, so the release of the redeco just resulted in two versions of Mudflap on the shelves at the same time that no body wants.
As far as HA Mudflap, I think it's only in such high demand because it's rare. If it had been released in regular numbers, it would probably be shelfwarming like Skids (well, maybe a little less, since it comes with Simmons).
I love Mudflap. I think his toy is better than Skids's.
The problem is I bought him a year ago.
Tuner Mudflap still lingers on clearance for ~ $3 at a Target near me. Given that Skids and Mudflap are nearly repaints of each other, who wants another repaint of a toy whose face looks like it is melting off?
The horror. The horror.
Below these guys were dozens of Mixmasters.
I thought pictures did him well. I really wanted Twins when they first cam out, then I started hating them.
