    To me it shows that chasing the ultimate performance etc. isn't the only way to be successful. But its amazing how many folks think thats the be all end all, and that Switch users "aren't real gamers" or whatever.

    5 years in a row as the top selling console of the year is a great achievement!

    Though it helps when your two competitors cant produce systems :p

    Yea, the rollout of the new Sony and Microsoft consoles this generation was laughably bad. By comparison Valve's rollout of the Steam Deck was honestly smoother than it really had any right to be since it's their first "console" but had the benefit of only being sold direct.

    Also, the switch may be at the end of its lifecycle anyways.

    On November 5th 2021, in an investor Q&A the president of Nintendo referenced the Switch at being at the half way point in it's life cycle with being 5 years old (Answer 5 on page 4), meaning they expect the Switch to keep going for a few more years.

    We’ll see.

    I personally don’t see the drama about getting an upgraded switch from people like Dreamcastguy. It’s pretty clear it’s just Nintendo selling what was already available.
