News Post: Nickelodeon Unveils Creative Talent For 2022 Transformers Show
Not a bad choice since she has experience with storyboarding.
Interesting that this says 2022. Wasn't the show initially announced for 2023?
No it was announced for next year
The rest of the team doesnt instill confidence though, Rise of the TMNT kinda killed the current era of Ninja Turtles...
"A new species of Transformer?"
"The family that adopts them?"
Oooh, I have a bad feeling about this.....
So are the head writer and series director being announced later? I’m not seeing them mentioned in that list.
@Monari: This series is being produced by Nicole Dubuc, who was head writer of Rescue Bots. If anyone knows how to make a “TFs interact with humans” story work, it’s her.
Not to mention Rescue Bots was one of the few modern shows to lean in to "robots in disguise."
If I were taking the lessons learned from Rescue Bots and the Bayverse and trying to get a BW revival off the ground, this is exactly the elevator pitch I'd use.
So I wouldn't freak out yet.
Transforming robots in disguise as transforming robots was fucking brilliant.
Animation by Icon Creative? Interesting. Check out their work, their CG animation is pretty good, but I\'m not sure how well the style would translate to giant robots.
I think it was less Rise doing that and more Nick pulling the plug on 2012 and immediately going into a new series. Tmnt usually takes a break between series due to the audience aging out, they tried to force a resurgence too quickly after ending their first series.
The closest thing I've ever seen to G1 is the Netflix series. All these lame reboot attempts don't even warrant my interest. Just another show for 5 year olds with the Transformers name slapped onto it.
The irony of complaining that the new shows are for children when G1 was literally a show intended for children.
It took the standard “TFs disguise themselves from the humans” premise and turned it on its head. A group of Autobots land on Earth, but on an island in the middle of nowhere instead of a major city. Their vehicle modes mostly exist to be functional in rescues instead of being used to hide. No, they disguise themselves by pretending to be piloted mecha that are sometimes remote controlled by the Burns family. They’re not hiding their physical appearances - they’re hiding their personalities in plain sight. That’s insanely clever.
Maybe this "new race"" living among the humans is a new take on the Armada Mini-Cons?
Finding their place among the Autobots and Decepticons whilst bonding with humanity seems to fit their original storyline.
Hopefully they lean into the same "used as weapons, are the Autobots any better?" angle that made Micron Legend so interesting to start with.
Whether it's Beasties, Minicons or something else I'm intrigued.
Maybe they'll conflate the 2 concepts and have Earth scaled Superpowered Beastformers living as house pets and fighting as robots, caught in the middle of the war.
I definitely get Mini-Con vibes from the description.
Meh. Big pass..
Hopefully more inspired by the Minicons' portrayal in the Armada comic book
Plot twist: This is an armada reboot.
