There is this phenomena in the music industry that centers around the band Nickelback: Either you REALLY, REALLY like them, or you REALLY, REALLY hate them. There's no in between for the people. I'd like to see the opinions of TFWers and hear what they think. Choose Yay or Nay, then post your reason to your selection.
I voted no because I really don't care enough for them to say yes. I don't hate them however. I do have two of their albums that I didn't buy. Both aren't anything special, but aren't absolute crap either.
Hate them so much. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...megatrons-comickery-return-3.html#post2291037
Coming from canada I get really sick of Nickelback as they are played on almost every radio station becuase they are some times rock, somtimes lite rock and also qualify as pop music. Due to there popularity they are also played to cover the whole Canadian Content bit, so it gets extreally annoying. Musically they are VERY generic and could be confused with any current 'rock' band.
I picked Nay because I don't like them; but they're far too bland for me to muster up the effort to really, really hate them; I hardly even notice if a song of theirs is playing, it's like background filler. While still nothing special, their first couple albums before they hit it big were somewhat more listenable than the dreck they churn out nowadays.
nay, they are bland and sound like a cookie cutter group to me , nothing to set them apart from any other simliar group that came before
This is the great irony of the name; unlike Nickelback songs, there's more than one type of Sticklebrick.
Yes. And not afraid to say it. What I hate most is alot of people immediately try to judge you when you tell them you like Nickelback. As if listening to a band that's not that good makes you a bad or dumb person. Fricking hate it. Yes, they do nothing that hasn't been done before. Yes, they do alot of the same stuff. Yes, it's probably too boring for alot of people. Yes, all of their ballads get played on the radio way too often. To me they're helluva catchy, and I saw them live twice and had an awesome time. If I want to listen to something more experimental/alternative/artistic/louder/complex/better I'll just play a cd of another (more accepted), but I'm perfectly fine with simpler songs sang by a rusty voice when the mood is right.
http://www.explosm.net/db/files/Comics/Dave/comickroeger1.png Pretty much sums up my opinion of them.
I post on a metal forum and a lot of people who join get turned away by some of the vets right away just because of the music they listen to. I don't judge people by their music at all. Everyone is entitled to enjoy whatever they want. I find it petty that people will treat a person a certain way just because of the music they like. Those guys make fun of me (playfully, of course) for liking Def Leppard but I don't care, Def Leppard = the greatest 9 arms on stage ever.
I fullheartedly agree with you..the funny thing is alot of times a person that dislikes me for it listens to alot of bands that I like/love as well, so it's really a bit sad. Another funny thing has happened to me as well more than once: people laughing for me liking Nickelback, then claiming Stain'd and 3 Doors Down are the best and most inspirational bands in the world. Not that I have anything against those bands, listen to them occasionally myself, but at least admit that those are just as bad as Nickelback, for the exact same reasons.
