I’ve heard talk about this, but know nothing about it. So what’s the deal with it?
"Spy Games" wasn't supposed to be an ongoing, but rather a five-issue mini-series. The story outline wound up morphing into what became Sins of the Wreckers.
Here's the bits about it from the Sins TPB:
(Zoom in on that text
Hmmm. This seems interesting, though the plot’s a bit convoluted. Is there any more information on this?
Not really. Roche has maybe talked about it once or twice at conventions, but not really in any more detail than what was in that feature I posted.
Heh. I wonder what would have happened in the rest of it. Thanks for the information!
Wait, is this a whole different lost Nick Roche story from that Punch/Counterpunch miniseres?
Punch-Counterpunch series? Wasn’t that from a different writer?
Yeah, the unproduced Punch/Counterpunch mini (titled Legacy of Rust) was written by Stuart Moore, who'd previously done New Avengers/Transformers and Spotlight: Ramjet.
Seems I have my wires crossed. You're right, that was Stuart Moore
Yeah, don’t know about what that one would have been like. He’s not the greatest writer. Wasn’t Jimmy Pink also in it?
I remember reading about "Spy Games" in the Sins TPB, and given how great Roche's stories tend to be I would've loved to see how that story came out.
There's also the unfortunately canceled Punch / Counterpunch story by Stuart Moore as well as Simon Furman's 13 mini-series that we never got to see either.
Funny. I always thought Legacy of Rust was Roche as well.
This sounds massively more interesting then the convoluted and dull Sins of the Wreckers.
Honestly, I've for a long time thought it'd be really interesting to dig into/focus on the Super Powers aspect of Transformers, something that's been there, but never really taken serious advantage of.
What makes these characters "special" – are they Cybertronian "mutant"s (in the Marvel sense)? how do other characters who don't have powers feel about them. I like the tact up there that they are resource hogs because of it.
