I don't think it was a soft schedule overall, but the first 10 weeks weren't too bad. And they finished up the last three weeks in their division. Clearly, weeks 9-14 are the place to look.

I'm going to assume they had nothing to play for in their final game against Buffalo. So that can be thrown out.

Man I'm just messing around :lol  Even though I've never liked the Cowboys, I'm not going to hate anyone for liking them. I might rub it in when they lose though :D

I mean the only real joke in our division now is the Jets. Buffalo and Miami both have great defenses (Dolphins almost beat Denver, Buffalo did beat the Packers). So the AFC East had an up year for once.

    I don't get it.

    Really sad, isn't it?

A Cowboy fan here in Virginia was killed at a bar because of arguing about football.

I really do not understand people that take a silly thing like sports as a personal issue. Especially so after working in sports as a profession.

    IT'S FUCKING FOOTBALL.

I agree with that for the most part. Miami and Buffalo would qualify as average teams at this point.

This is not a factual statement. That is the PERCEPTION. Far more comebacks than losses with late INTs (when is an INT timely?)

Really? Seattle? As a QB he led a drive down and would have had first and goal at the 1 if not for an overturned call (without a good angle to do so). NYG? Second to last play on the final drive he threw a perfect pass that would have been the game winning TD, but the WR stopped his route).
Philly - Played great and the team won in a route.
    Min - Team got killed.
Det - Led the team back from down 13, including the game winning TD with just over 2 minutes left.

What is "more Romo" anyway? More Romo would be good IMO.

It does not all start and end with QB. Football is the biggest TEAM sport there is. Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer are great QBs? They were the key to success for those teams? You can't be serious. The QB is the biggest INDIVIDUAL component for a team (usually, but not always), but the rest of the team as a whole easily outweighs him.

All of those QBs combined don't get anywhere near the criticism that Romo does. And with the exception of Rivers, and at times Ben, none of them play at the level that Romo does.

So Eli finally got a taste what Romo has had to deal with. Romo never sucked anywhere near that bad though.

Did he choke last night? Did he choke in 2009 against Philly?
Oh please. Without Romo, the Cowboys would have been bottom dwellers for awhile. Those teams had no talent? None of them have had the historically bad defenses Romo has had. Brady has had great protection for most of his career and has had plenty of weapons around him, not to mention a quality defense. Rodgers has had a plethora of offensive weapons, and defenses that cause turnovers. Manning has had a lot of weapons as well, though I would put him at another level from everyone else.

No single player in the history of the game has ever carried a team. It has never happened, it will never happened. EVERY great QB has needed his team. If you don't believe this, then you just don't understand the game. If it was ONLY the QB, then the best QB would win the Superbowl every year, NO MATTER WHAT. But Romo has lifted his team farther than they would have gone without him.

The Giants won the SB, not Eli. How did that defense play in the playoffs?

Okay let's make up our mind here. Can a single QB lift his team or not? Or is Romo some sort of "Super QB" that is the only one capable of doing it?

Do you want me to go track down the stats for you? I know they are there, and I can. I am not making a claim on a perception so many like to do with Romo.

And I'm well aware that the QB is important, but he doesn't outweigh the rest of the team.

And I'm not pooing on Ryan. I think he's a very competent QB. But again, despite the Falcons' lack of playoff success, he isn't roasted like Romo is. If the same criteria that is applied to Romo is applied to him, then he should be labeled a choker, no? There is a very prominent bias against Romo and a perception that isn't supported by reality.

Lift is not the same as carry. He can help them, but he can't carry them. The greatest QB ever can't carry a team to a championship.

Great QB with crap team = great job to get to 8-8
Great QB with a decent team = might have a shot to make a playoff run
Great QB with a good team = SB favorite.

Crap team with a crap QB = 1st pick in the draft
Crap team with a decent QB = top 10 pick
Crap team with a great QB = still missing the playoffs

Great team with a crap QB = maybe 8-8.
Great team with a decent QB = might have a shot to make a playoff run
Great team with a good QB = SB favorite.

Duuuude....you should try taking inbound calls for a cable company. You'd swear some of the more die hard sports fans are nothing but imbeciles, savages, and totally irrational morons. You wouldn't believe some of the crap people have spewed in my ears :lol

Mainly pointing people to where they can look at the stats between the two since everyone seems to be pulling stats out of their asses on both sides.

I'd also like to point out this key stat though:
    Rodgers Playoff Record Overall 5-4 (1-4 without 2010): 2009 (0-1), 2010 (4-0), 2011 (0-1), 2012 (1-1), 2013 (0-1)
    Romos Playoff Record Overall 2-3: 2006 (0-1), 2007 (0-1), 2009 (1-1), 2014 (1-0)

Other than 2010 where luck was on their side the entire post season, Rodgers isn't any more or less successful than Romo in the post season. I mean, the Packers won the Super Bowl from the Wild Card in 2010. Since then, they have won the NFC North 4 years in a row and haven't done anything with it since.

I remember when this thread was fun.

It irritates me to no end that my last bastion of fun, non-serious football talk has been invaded by what I hate most

Wait, so are we acting like Rodgers isn't significantly better?

Because he is. He's significantly better than every QB in the league at this point.

I disagree, he may be the best, but he's not much better than the rest of the top 5 that people make him out to be.

    Yup, serious sports talk.

Like saying team/player X sucks is a personal insult to a person who's a fan of that team/player.

You'd think that their mothers were insulted or something.

His TD/INT ratio is insane, he's a pocket passer with a cannon arm that can make plays with his legs, and he doesn't throw games away or make many mistakes period.

Even as a Tom Brady fan, dude is significantly better at this point in his career. Better than Brady, Manning, Romo, Wilson, Luck, anyone.

That was amongst some of the more tame stuff being spewed into my ears when I did work for a cable company. It seriously got me to not watch any sports at all because I didn't want to be associated with those kinds who explode like Mt. Vesuvius over a sports game.

No. We was talkin' about yo mamma.
