“Pokémon, Dragon ball, One Piece and Gundam items” And the article only mentioned bandai’s involvement. Which means Wei Jang or BMB we’re likely not affected

Yea, wasn't sure if they omitted figures from other lines that had lower quantities present.

I still really don't know if they could do this also with ko transformers. In my opinion, there is a big difference: the Dragon ball figures and so on are really copies of something that Bandai already sells. Kos are always something similar but not exactly the same: there are differences in paint, design, size and details. I'd love to hear what a lawyer would say about this. Till they don't put names or symbols on them and they don't have the original figures as example in their factories, I think they are quite safe...
It's like copyright about songs: it's difficult to prove that a song was copied by another, even if they are clearly similar.
Has anyone here the law formation and studies to tell us something about this?

If it's fake figures then only if a 3P was moonlighting by doing KOs of an official product.

Also looking at the extra pictures, these are straight up copies of Bandai products and due to bandai’s involvement and gift to the police, it’s very safe to assume that Hasbro was not involved so this thread is kind of insignificant.

Ive noticed more fakes or 'China Market version' popping up on ebay:

    Mezco 1/12
    Marvel legends
    Certain marvel statues
    Bishoujo statues
    Hot Toys copies

I wouldn't trust any of them though!

Not seeing as much on the transformers side, just the usual Takasa Tony mp ko really.

IMO a potential 3P issue is if they get caught up in a seizure as collateral...due to being held in stock by the same warehouse they will be assumed to be the same type of product.

Which of course they aren't :horse:

    But overall:

just another Bandai raid. Those guys see no difference between 3p and ko, so rip those products. Happy to be a transformer fan where the official products aren't hella expensive and we actually have third party options. Hasbro is strangely accepting of em, which you don't expect from a large company given what Bandai does.....

Bandai seems to carefully curate it's stuff and everything they manage are the IP equivalent of bonsai trees. You are literally paying for that every time you buy a Bandai figure/model/whatever... and overall you at least kinda get what you pay for. I'm a Gunpla guy and collect many of their figures and I haven't run into many intrinsic issues with what I've gotten aside from price.

"Transformers" is what you get when you feed a gnu fifteen different kinds of fruit and have it poop all over a 50 acre field and neglect whatever grows for like 20 years. Good luck managing that shit. On top of that, HasTak figures are rife with QC issues. Even the mass produced toys can come out with entire lines disintegrating and/or having massive assembly issues.

I can’t honestly think of anybody CURRENTLY operating at Hasbro level price points with better QC.

Sure, 80% of the stuff sold 20+ years ago was solid as a brick. And there’s premium stuff with better QC.

But Spinmasters? Mattel? NECA? Who’s doing mass retail stuff at Hasbro prices with QC better than Hasbro?

Arguably nobody is as solid as they used to be on QC. Articulation is generally twice what it was 20 years ago. Sweatshops are dying out.

3Ps with original designs cost more than Hasbro. KOs/4P like Weijiang bootleg design elements and IMHO generally manage to fix Hasbro design flaws but introduce new ones and they aren’t building in a physical retailer margin into the price.
