Another thing, he also stands upright and not just in hunchback mode. IMG_20240516_134700.jpg

Man, that headsculpt looks really good. You can see they put a lot of work on the part where his head was damaged by Optimus. Looks a lot better than Unique toys in my opinion.

This is exactly why I need Newage to continue their XM line and make more movie figures. Their quality has been excellent so far. Bring me more Newage Movie figures! Especially ones that haven’t been attempted yet or whose 3P offerings are only OSKO of deluxe size figures! Would love to see an MPM Sideswipe by them.

Just so happy with how far these companies have come in terms of engineering. It is mind boggling to see how good these transformations have been getting.

Looks like a nice figure. I’m quite happy with my UT desperado but if this one is proven to be significantly better I might “trade in” for this one.

    I figured :(

I'm more bummed about the upscale than the trailer not turning. I don't understand why they would upscale him when their own Mista is MPM scale.

I had to switch to legends cause one MP figure took up just as much real estate as 3-4 legends figs haha

That would be because the carbots are alreadly scaled right, it’s the characters above them that are undersized in the MPM line. Which is why these upscales and OSKO’s happen.

Probably looked at the scale charts and sized him this way.

Dont you know? Unique Toys and MetaGate set the new standar, now Carbots should be 22cm!

Looks kind of blocky, like the son of Mackron and Desperado... Desperado has the best robot mode, but the alt mode and articulation seem better on Duel.

I guess that does make sense. So, really, they are MPM scaled, but not the official MPM scale.

I hate to sound pretentious.. but as an owner of both Desperado and the incredibly accurate Prime 1 DOTM Megatron statue I kinda felt the need to chime in with this one.

If you strictly care about bot mode accuracy and nothing else, go with Desperado. Nearly every detail, shape and tidbit present on the statue is represented on Desperado incredibly well. Not only that, the proportions are also a lot closer. Of course Desperado's alt mode suffers from that which is clearly well-known by now.

Now, by the looks of it, if you care about paint, alt mode accuracy and (most likely) a fun and intuitive transformation, go with Duel. Both are great options and I wouldn't even say one outshines another all things considered. Choice is difficult but in the end, everyone wins!

    ...(Except Mackron. Screw Mackron)

As for me? Yeah, fuck it. I'm probably gonna get this figure too either way. As a connoisseur of DOTM Megatron, I feel it is my moral obligation to do so. And damn am I looking forward to it's release.

Exactly, releases like BA Prime or the KO Challenger scale properly with MPM Bee, Jazz and Barricade.

This is true, they definitely set a new scale standard for something even the mini-bots like Skids and Mudflap
Pretty much yup and why I said offical MPM scaled originally. It’s not the clearest situations for sure

Lovely toy. Looking forward in getting a Megatron this good since 2011 (I enjoyed CV and the voyager as a kid even though the head sculpt really drags it down and SS is pure black coal). Hoping that the transformation isn’t a pain.

They aren’t bad if you remember how they are supposed to go. Most instances of it sucking, including with myself occasionally, is when you do it in the incorrect order and then stuff starts colliding and getting confusing.
