okay, so he's partially blue, but why? he looks pretty ugly like that!  

 

The NA interpretation of the comic using blue shading to represent black. You may think it’s ugly, but you can’t say it isn’t the most unique minimal deco figure from NA

 

ah okay! yeah, i'll take the proper black/grey over any blue comic shading!  

curious why they used blue shading in the older comics to represent black/grey shading.

has any toy company released the earlier megatron head sculpts?

 

To me the main thing I think of when I hear "comics version" Megatron is the black helmet. I've mentioned it on one of the Megatron threads before, but when I was a kid, it never clicked to me that the comics version's head was colored differently than the toy and cartoon. I just never noticed the discrepancy until years later. Does anyone know why Marvel decided to color the head that way?

 

There was an animated commercial early on where Megatron had the black helmet too, I think it got changed to great pretty late in the process

 

The prototype concept art for the Microchange P-38 showed a black head. I'm guessing Marvel went with those colors until the production P-38 toys came out, and then they did a last minute change for the Sunbow cartoon. The comic Megs kept the black helmet, but the face changed to match the production toy/cartoon.

 

This prototype is evidently also the source of the ‘barrel behind the shoulder’ look.

Already here, what an insane engineering!!. Impressive figures, but the elbow could be better.

 

At its size I don’t mind the elbows. I just wish he could look up more.

 

Just picked up the regular version of Starscream at TFSource. Looks like they must have restocked him.

One question, the regular version of Starscream, came with the conoration set?.

 

I do not believe it does.

 

No the clear “ghost” Starscream comes with that. NA wants you to double dip. (They really want to to get all variants to make the space bridge.)
