    Seriously? That's tiny!

But yep, I couldn't find any pics of a vanette side by side with a Beetle or a sedan but even with a shot that only partially has other cars in frame, you can see that it's an itty bitty van and it's about the same length, give or take, as a regular car.

A van shorter than a Beetle. Crazy.

I always had this impression that the 1G Vanettes C20 (where Ironhide, and Ratchet were based on) were long! locally, we had the 2G C22 Vanette, and those looked long, but checking both their dimensions now, the 1G, and 2G Vanettes are almost just the same!

After watching the video, he’s not perfect (the pinholes), but still pretty awesome.

Definitely the best legends Ratchet currently.

Maybe MS will make a better one, if they make one, but we’ll see.

    Can’t wait to get him!

Did some wikiing of my own and came up with:

    Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen
    Nissan Fairlady
    Z 4,140 mm

    Jazz
    Porsche 935
    4,820 mm

Never realized the Nissan Vanette was so small   So, I suppose the scaling's still accurate within NA ....

for a more contemporary comparison, the 85 to 07 Toyota LiteAce (which is, or was, in abundance locally) had a length of 3,995 mm (157.3 in). so if you think the LiteAce is already small, what more the older Vanette.

let's make it even more contemporary, the 06 Toyota Avanza had a length of 4,070–4,120 mm (160.2–162.2 in).

I think I get it now.

    There are scale collectors,

    And there are aesthetic collectors.

I shouldn’t have deleted my last post, but I didn’t want to take away from the fun you guys were having with measurements.

All cool, @nemesisJon! I'm just so amazed that there are vans shorter than cars... I'm not a very automotive person, plus I'm new to collecting, specifically collecting in scale ;)

The more I see of New Age product, the more impressed I get with how much work goes into them - articulation, transformations etc. Seriously impressed! I keep telling myself to hold off for Magic Square... but it's proving increasingly difficult - Datsun bros, Van bros, mini bots.... don't know if I can hold off any longer. Especially after being so happy with the Jazz I got!

About a dozen: on top of 2 MPs and 4 chug. I try to keep the collection small, and lightly keep to a ‘one-in one-out’ rule, which helps/is because of having a pretty tight set of criteria on what I’m after.

It is! They need to bring the goods, especially on these two now. I'm still getting that black one though.

MST posted they're debuting new products at a con in August, so we'll see soon what they have coming.

Ooooo.... that's sounds mightily intriguing.. ;)

Too much to hope for the rest of the S1 line up - both Autobots and Decepticons - I suppose..!!

Although I'd imagine some are just hoping against hope for Menasor... ;)

Just be fortunate we have two good legends companies pumping out good G1 legends.

    And Iron Factory.

This is my exact mindset. If you like it you like it. Scale be damned.

Watched the Sun of the Empire MST Hoist video amd must say that the figure looks nice. It would be a nice addition to my DX9/Newage G1 collection. Their Inferno, Grapple and Trailbreaker also look nice but it is their Hoist that is making me consider buying MST. Think I'll wait till Newage shows what they have instock for us before buying MST, not really into placeholders and to lazy to sell.

I hear you, but I am currently mixing G1 Legends scale between and MST and NA and it's working out so far...I had a tough time getting to this as I want things to match up. I just replaced my DX9 Prime with MST's and the size works out just fine. I think the key is in posing things a particular way. Sure, if you just have everyone standing shoulder to shoulder in a sunbow-scale-chart kind of way, it will be off, but if you pose someone like MST Sideswipe crouched or even in vehicle (bleh) mode, the difference becomes less apparent. My DX9 Grimlock still stands a bit taller than MST Prime, so I'm okay with it and the NA carbots are up to his waist. To top this all off I use Takara Metroplex and Trypticon with legends figures because i think that scales just about right. With a little creativity, you can just get the figures you prefer the aesthetic of and make them work together. Iron Factory is somewhere in between, but I keep the IDW style stuff all on it's own anyway.

Well i have given it up, i was all set with collecting legends+ mst mft combination etc exclusively but newage is just too good to ignore now. There is so much style and execution in newage, they really know what they are doing evidenced in what they have done so far(they should do because they dx9 v2). Mst while being impressive in that they did super complex legends first, their products are kind of wooden in comparison - things like face sculpts and alt modes... Still good and i'm not trying to put them down but when you really crunch the comparison imo... Then there is the lack of focus by mft and mechplanet etc.

I'm still keeping my legends+ collection in case. However Newage are making some foreverafter renditions of characters, it just means starting from scratch again and if they can go deep enough into the lineup.
