It is a little finicky though compared to every other NA figure. Mine seems to be balanced and then teeters from toe to heel and the slightest touch.

 

It's obvious how the heels work, they just don't work well - unless the feet are flat. Which goes back to my points that the foot articulation, while not terrible, is still not good, which ties into it being a weeble wobble back heavy Betty.

 

Having these guys in hand, the non-locking chest/collarbone area and visible pin holes in the shins are really my only complaints. I really think they could have put some little tabs in the collarbone area that lock into the back of the windshield, to hold that whole area together more.

Still very nice little figures.

 

I believe the attachment with the needle-like end is an arc-welder, and the... vacuum cleaner   is a liquid chemical sprayer, which, I think, only Ironhide should have.

These NewAge and Magic Square Diaclone redecos got me thinking about what other Pre-TF versions I owned, so here's the NA/MS trio with:

1.MFT's 'Mechabot-1' redeco of their Omega Supreme:



2. MFT's Diaclone redeco of their 1:1 KO of DX9's Devastator:



Whew, 3P Legends is complicated!

I like to imagine that they are different characters who just share a body type with the guys from G1... they just stayed on Cybertron and lived their lives while Optimus & Co. were offline for millions of years on Earth.

 

I mean, if we can 50 different characters who all share the seeker body, why not?

 

Love this! This is exactly how I plan to display them as well, with the Omegatron HD repaint and MS Powered Convoy (who is currently languishing in a TFSource Stack). Also gonna throw TW Exhaust in there... at least until another company releases a better version of him.

After that, I’ll be looking forward to the Diaclone Insecticon repaints from NA. And fingers crossed we get a Legends Shackwave at some point in the future.

I think of the Diaclone/pre-TF guys as an alternate universe team... sort of a “what-if” scenario.

 

Finally got around to transforming these guys, the van has been sitting on my shelf a while. These are head and shoulders better than the Hot Soldier ones... Ratchet is beautiful white, rather than the yellowy HS, and so much more delicately detailled. Love the painted metallic windows. The Transformation is so intricate, and the bots look great. Yeah, a bit unsteady if you don't pose them carefully, and I agree that the torso could hold a bit more firmly together, but all in all, they're another amazing release from Newage. I love my MS Prime, but after building a NA troupe, it's hard to pull the trigger on MS Hoist, with such lackluster finish and non accurate alt mode. I just want everything NA now.

 

These Newage guys are great, somehow make me feel like a kid again, the packaging helps with that too!

As a medic Ratchets needs more tools. The yellow Ratchet, Tata, also came with the arc-welder and water gun while black Ironhide, Riddick, came with just the the water gun.

Had ordered Riddick at Robotoybase and with the Tata order also from them received the red eyes Riddick head. It looks a lot better now, eyes are the path to the spark of a Cybertronian.

Always believed the Transformers universe is a multi universe. How else am I going to explain the different toy-, cartoon-, games- and movie lines. And then we still have different time zones, what if, mirror versions, two or more different franchises overlapping...

For years I just stayed away from Transformers because every time I came across a Transformer and looked up information I got bombared with different continuities I had no idea where to start or what was part of each other.

Do like the bot mode of Hoist. Always had a soft spot for him and the other more chubby bots as a chubby kid myself. Just don't want to start another collection and don't want to add them to my DX9/Newage collection.

And then the Stunticons. Really wanted this one. Don't collect MST but would have maded an exception for them, they are a combiner and I want my precious. Hope for them coming out is dwindeling. They could have brought me to the MST side.

Anyone else sad the bonus hands dont work for van mode? Not a deal breaker but just a bummer.

 

Yeah, that's been reported on by other reviewers. Honestly, I'm not surprised, particularly at that scale. Leaving room for open hands to fit in vehicle mode is a lot to ask for a Legends figure

 

No Legends figure that I own allows the bonus hand to be transformable. The only reason you can get open hands in Masterpiece to transform is that the hands are articulated, right? (honest question, I have only owned mp1 and mp-10.)

 

So where can we order the red-eyed Riddick? I ended up getting the blue-eyed one from Bababobo.... which is fine, he looks good in my Diaclone lineup. But I’m thinking it might be nice to get the red-eyed version as well to go in Shattered Glass.

 

You know, on the Assaultus thread a few days ago, I remarked surprise at Iron Factory Bruticus being as tall if not taller than G1 Bruticus, and couldn't believe scramble city combiner limb-bots were legend sized, since they seem bigger in my memory. But wow, seeing First Aid and NA Ratchet here, I guess its true. I mean, I guess its from nearly 30 years ago, but its still amazing the level of detail we get at that size now compared to then.
