Update. Gave him another try and maybe I did something wrong the first time but he's holding together better, the cab is firmly plugging in now. The shoulders are locked in place and better. Still not on Huffer's level but better than I had originally thought.

I agree with everyone else : Huffer is great, one of their best minibots. The transformation is smart and intricate yet flows well.
Pipes, though, is just not fun to transform : the elbows don’t tab well, the robot form lacks integrity. I’m torn, though, since I’m also glad Newage gave him a unique transformation and didn’t make him a mere repaint of Huffer like they did for Outback or Tailgate.

Yeah, just going to send mine back, especially with all of the reviews saying Pipes is hot glossy garbage.

Do those reviewer codes work with any purchase or just the product that had been reviewed?

I haven't watched any reviews yet. What aren't they liking about Pipes? I've got the set in hand, and while I definitely think Huffer is a way more successful figure, Pipes seems fine to me. "Average" rather than "garbage".

Golden Zhen video on RoadRanger and Puffer but he addresses what he heard about the breakage. Guess he heard about what happened here:

He starts to talk about it at the 3:08 mark as he's transforming.

Got mine in yesterday. They are both solid NA releases. Huffer is definitely the better of the two. Pipes is not as fun to fiddle with but I found collapsing the chest first and then tabbing in the arms and backplate make him a lot more stable

edit: and I just realized after making this post that my Huffer has paint chips on his nose. Meh.

I was VERY rough on my copy when transforming him as I wanted everything tabbed in as tight as possible, no breakage on my end.

The complaints I've heard are from Pipes. I transformed mine similar to what Golden Zhen did in the video above and the legs popped out fine but those particular tabs act like hooks.

Yeah from the looks of things the 'natural' movement would be to pull them down and out, working against the hook and causing a break unless you know what to do.

I’m not sure why they don’t make a little insert showing the tab and direction you should push or pull on the instruction manual. NA Megs was the first figure that had tabs I couldn’t see or understand and I wound up trying to pry the torso with a small flat head screwdriver and ruined the torso paint, when all I needed to know was to push the torso a bit up first, and then the sides come apart. I’ve since started using a spudger for tricky separations (lesson learnt) but even still, most can be done easily when you know what kind of tab it is.

I’ll echo that Pipes is kinda blah, but I really like Huffer.. wish Pipes had Huffers’ body mold but kept his arms, opaque windshield and all.

Got mine yesterday and WOW. Huffer is excellent! Maybe one of the best NA releases to date imo. Pipes took time time to figure out. His transformation was surprisingly different with only the legs being identical in design to Huffer. I suppose this blew my expectations as I just assumed after the last couple 2-pack releases that both Huffer and Pipes would be mostly identical but NOPE.

Pipes definitely takes some time to warm up to. His transformation is a bit more fiddly than Huffer and doesn't feel as solid until you finally get it all lined up just perfectly but on my copy at least once I got it all squared up and crunched together he's rock solid in bot mode and just as good as Huffer. I think really he just takes some extra attention and patience. The big thing for me was getting the back plate oriented straight up and down and then getting the truck cab seated down onto it fully.

yeah took me a long while to realize my chest wasn't closing up properly because I just wasn't using enough force to get the middle rod to click in, but I was paranoid the shoulders were in the way, or something I couldn't see was gumming it up and was gonna break. This thread made me overly cautious... as usual though, once you click things in once, they get easier forevermore.
