Those guardians look great, but I can’t afford both of them so soon…

 

Got my EX in today. Haven't messed with him too much, but loving it so far. If anyone was curious, yeah, he's definitely a muted brown, not gray. Hard to tell from the pics tho. Never had the G1 but I'm very happy with this one.

 

Anxious to get my copy in, but it hasn't updated in a few days. I hope it's not stuck in transit!

A detail I hadn't noticed until I had it in hand was that the shin plates are partially sculpted in the brown plastic to better match how the shin plates on the original toy looked.

An unfortunate mistake is that they did the upper arms in yellow, instead of tan to match the wings.

 

So after years of collecting and almost never opening anything (due to not having any actual display as yet) I received the payment requests for both Guardians and finally decided to open Omega, before committing to further purchases of the same mold to make sure I actually enjoy this hobby. On one hand if I didn’t enjoy it I would save a fortune and also make some cash selling everything off, but I went in hoping that would not be the case. Had an absolute blast! Such an outstanding figure, instructions used to alt and nothing back to robot, very intuitive! I’m doubling down on this hobby!!

TL;DR - blue & purple paid up!

 

Cool, I thought the shins were just painted differently… didn’t realize they were actually remolded. Nice!

The upper arms are a tough call. Like, technically the bicep area on the G1 toy IS yellow. So this is accurate in that sense. But the G1 toy also has the light tan forearm pieces that show through, like he’s wearing the rocket and claw pieces as “gauntlets” over them. So the color layout of the G1 toy features a band of tan in the elbow area. But this mold doesn’t really have that section; its biceps go straight down into rocket/claw parts, which are more like his actual forearms than gloves that he’s wearing.

I guess they could have painted some tan on there, or made the elbow joint tan or something. But I think if the biceps were tan, though it might help the color layout, you could argue that that was inaccurate as well.

 

Just powerglide and omega so far? You need to populate that base mode  

 

Haha - once I have a proper display space set up it will be well & truly populated  

 

Currently leaning hard towards this too.
Maybe Powerglide in landing procedures and Jetfire V Starscream up in the air.
But maybe also Omega V Devi. So undecided, so many bots, so many decisions.
But mine today hopefully, finally.

 

I suppose you are correct. It's just missing that bit of tan between the grayish brown and the yellow. I feel like if the bicep was partially tan, or entirely tan, with the shoulder joint yellow, that would have been a better aesthetic match. The upper arms on the original toy are very small, so its arms are dominated by the yellow shoulders and tan lower arms. Due to the mold it was always going to be inaccurate any way they want with it.

 

Would someone mind posting a pic of NA Omega Supreme next to G1 Omega Supreme? Are they roughly the same size in both modes?

 

I think someone has previously posted such a photo in this thread. If I recall the bot modes are definitely very close, with the NA version possibly being a little taller, though more lanky. In alt more, the original toy is definitely larger.

Looking at the 5, Toon is still #1 for me as primary, if placed with none-white figures, like Dinos / Bee / Cliffy / Hound / yellow or green devastator. For color that would go better with Skyfire / Ultra Magnus / Prime, i think the Black diaclone or maybe also the blue version.

But, if i could realistically get a 2nd one after Toon (which i wont have the funds for), i think it would be the Purple Thanos version. Colors and face just scream buy me!!!

No, I hear ya. I agree that it would give off a bit more of that G1 toy feel if they found a way to put some tan on to his lower bicep or something.
