I know..the alt mode is shit, lol, but Ironhide is supposed to look derpy!

 

I don't mind the alt mode. Transformation is pretty fun. My main problem with this mold is that the pegs for the hands are so short that they fall out easily.

 

I thought the van mode would stink but it feels good in-hand.

 

it doesn't show up well in photos, but in person these panels are a really different shade of red to everything else. NA Optimus has similar bits. I guess it's another painted/not issue. Ah well, maybe he should live in bot mode!

 

Every time I see the alt mode I wonder if anyone will ever do this custom.

 

That area becomes the bottom of the feet. You probably don’t want that to be painted plus it could contain a bigger mix of a plastic like nylon which doesn’t hold paint well.

 

I would buy if could also turn into the car

 

I found out there apparently was a transforming toy of it in the 80s, though it wasn't sold in the US. It did a surprisingly good job switching from van to car.

 

Great now I have to hunt one down

 

Got Ironhide in hand. Ironhide is so much better than Ratchet despite being 95% the same toy. His tolerances are tighter and I like his paint job more. I prefer the solid color with some gloss over Ratchet’s Pearl paint. Wish Ratchet was a Solid white.

 

I strongly encourage Newage to make Inspector Gadget and Ninja Turtle party wagon repaints/remolds from this. The original Pizza team or whatever they called it could use a big upgrade and update

Yes, it is SG Ratchet. Not that different from toon… Newage are pumping repaints like crazy… Give us sone new models !

Admittedly looks a bit boring, especially in alt mode. Honestly can’t even differentiate from the toon and SG vans. The different shades of blue for the windows is pretty apparent to me.

The translucent purple is cool though. I held off on the toon releases to pick this up so I’m still excited.

 

Might be boring but, I mean, that’s pretty much what SG Ratchet looks like. Change too much and people would get upset over inaccuracy.

That being said, I think they could have at least given him a maniacal face, and a purple cross (or cross-ish design) on his shoulder. A shame they didn’t push it a bit more, but I’m still buying it without hesitation.
