i'm not seeing what you're saying. most of the ladder IS in the torso. but clearly they couldn't get all of it in there, along with all the connecting support parts for it, which is the red backpack you're calling.

agreed, to expect that you can get the EXACT same results from MP scale in legends is clearly limited by how much you can reduce the ladder and connecting proportionally as "thin" to equal what it is in the MP counterpart. you can only do that so much before you start compromising the durability of the parts. i guess maybe they could have gone further perhaps by using more flexible nylon composition like MS does, but perhaps it would become too flex-y and noodle-ly.

though it may not be perfect execution… of the two, i prefer the red backpack vs the alternative of the ladder backpack.

I'm gathering the bigger point he's making is less that the red backpack can somehow be reduced at that size, but more is it worth it when the ladder on the back looks fine as well.

Obviously NA is aiming for the toon look, so ladder storage was going to happen. And yes, at this size, it was going to suffer from "whatever it takes," due to the obvious size limitations. Personally not being so slavishly cartoon, I have no issue with the ladder down his back. But considering what they had to work with, it's not the worst backpack I've seen.

The more I look at it, the more I realize that I like how he looks better than the MS one… looks like an MP compared to a chug. He does look really good. There’s the backpack, but I can live with it and it’s a good compromise over having the ladder hang out. I actually kind of like the tires sitting back there. Plus he also looks like he will be fun to mess with.

Do we know yet if he’s at least as tall as the MS one? Not sure what the MS one’s height measurement is.

Um, what? First I'm hearing of them. How long is the alt mode bumper to bumper? How wide is the cab?

Considering that the MS Inferno is about half a decade old and one of the company's first releases, it's rather simple compared to modern legends.

I would still probably get at least 1 representation of each character, but I agree with you on DeepCover and Cordon. It was the Prowl and the Protectobots that got me into G1 to begin with, so I'm always happy to see the release of rescue vehicles of any stripe. Still have my fingers crossed for a new PCC stakeout vehicle.

I canceled my 44-EX version when they came out with the 44-C version. The cartoon decos are gorgeous. I did get EX op and I love it... but tempted to double tip on 27-C

Am not a big fan how big Grimlock and Skyfire are. Unfortunately, everyone is making Skyfire Voyager size.

Hopefully a version with the early head

There's also the Magnificent Six comics version where Inferno has blue legs and head with a red face.

    [IMG][IMG]

They could do a Yellow Shattered Glass version (46B) [and I think they should give him an eyepatch in the SG version] and then you have the NewAge standards... Metallic (46EX), Golden Lagoon (46G), Transparent (46T) and obviously the Artfire repaint. Then there are the obvious remoulds into Grapple and Hauler with their various paint jobs too

    It's a wrong info. H46 is only 9.8cm high.
So if MS-B02 height is correct, NA's Inferno is literally the same height as MS's.

This is where I'm at. I get Skyfire is "in scale" and the like, but I've never really needed these characters to be that precise in legends format. Just following a basic path of Optimus is taller than the Ironhides and Infernos, which are taller than the Prowls and Hounds and Mirages, which are taller than the minibots...

So long as Skyfire is "taller" than everything that's not a combiner (or Omega), I'm pretty good. Maybe a bit taller than the IF version wouldn't be so bad, but it's just getting to be a bit much. Though, I guess that's just a couple of us.

I am happy to see the update where NA Inferno is the same height as the old MS Inferno, at least. The first bit stating he was taller had me going "really, this is getting to be a bit much!"

He looks fantastic in both modes and seems like a fun transformation from the video I watched. But not important enough of a character for me personally to budget in an upgrade for my MFT KO of Magic Square's old version.

I think this is a fair position on the issue. The MS design is too toony and honestly too crude for my liking (I prefer more of a toy aesthetic and premium finish) and given that I don’t yet own an Inferno in this scale, it’s an easy decision for me to just wait for the EX version of the NA one. Or, wait instead for Grapple— I’m not sure.

I appreciate recent MS offerings, though, and if they were to issue a v2.0 of Inferno, I might be tempted.

Funny enough, most of my G1 Legends shelf are NewAge as while I like both companies, I generally do prefer NewAge's takes aesthetically. I was actually looking forward to their Hound as well but they seem to have shelved it for 2022 at least so I went ahead and ordered the new painted MS Hound to replace my old Mechanic Studios (still a nice figure, scale is just off for a mostly NA and Magic Square collection) one since it's no longer suffering from what I've been calling the "wax face" issue I have with the original

You know this figure is like 1/4 the size of Kingdom Inferno. So it was never a replacement for that figure.
