F version has no die cast.

EXR has a pearlescent paint instead of regular paint, has die cast.

KC has yet to ship mine or if they have, haven't said they have. being one that ordered on the first day, before they ran out the first time...i'm a little miffed he hasn't shipped yet! the red is a bit off being metallic and all as you mentioned before but in this photo it still looks pretty good. i wish the inside of the lower legs was deco'd like jetfire's was (newage's EX is also guilty of this...can toyhax help these two companies out here wiht some sticer sets? haha). recalling the toy stickers that area should be heavily deco'd with many black accents, not just the stripe that the macross version has. as for *scale* the KC claims 1/72. I believe the old MP3/MP11 or about 1/62 ish so its kinda close but not close enough to be "the same" to me...unless the new mp seeker jet mode is really that much smaller (in which case it'll be even closer)...i dont' recall if it is or not.

I’m in the same boat. Ordered KC GoF on the first day and still no shipping notification. KC order says “production in progress” for the past 1.5 months. I did receive my 45EX and it’s better than I expected.

It’s so funny to me that the F version is that much cheaper, when diecast in fact is ridiculously cheap to produce but allows them to make a huge markup for the feel of the toy.

If you cancel it, I'd happily sell you mine.
If you look at the original promo pics that KC posted they didn't even have the black stripe on the inside of the leg, so at least the released version has that. But I highly suspect a decal set will be done by someone for GoF. Autobot decals, leg decals, booster stripes, etc.
KC's claims don't add up to official VF-1 measurements...14.23m. When you do the math with the KC length of 22.3cm it calculates out to 1/64th.

Keep in mind that the F-14 (19.13) and F-15 (19.43) are nearly identical in length.

I don't know if this will help you in any way but I got a notice from DHL by email and text and maybe that same day or after, an update on my PP payment with tracking from KC.

Same here. I emailed them and they finally gave me a tracking number. I don't know if it was coincidence or squeaky wheel. But it still says "preparing for post".

They made a post on their facebook page the other day that it was delayed due to covid and a fire at their factory. But that doesn't explain why people who bought from retailers are getting theirs before those of us who bought direct. Seems kind of pointless to buy direct from them anymore when they ship to retailers first and you don't save anything. I actually think I paid a few dollars more.

Cheap to produce, yes. But people who make this argument always fail to figure in increased production and mold costs due to change in materials. There probably is some markup but it's not as extreme as you may think

Wouldn't that make the the F version more expensive since they'd have to account for the material change from diecast to plastic?

It’s more likely that the ‘new’ plastic parts on the F version (thrusters, feet, waist hinge etc.) are actually gang-moulded on the same sprues as the rest of the figure, with the die-cast parts being the ‘add ons’. Then when they produce the regular versions they just discard the unused plastic parts and add in the die cast bits.

I seem to recall when NewAge released the transparent Starscream they had to make a brand new plastic sprue for new feet that were previously diecast on the base figure, which apparently was an expensive process.

My guess is that, ever since that incident, NewAge have become a bit more forward-thinking and now put most of this extra stuff (head variations, weapon variations etc.) on the base moulds.

That's interesting. So then adding diecast just increases the base cost because they already had it all in plastic and threw it out (and made an extra set of molds). I'm guessing they aren't adding diecast just to increase the price, though, and it's more as a selling point because people like it.

IF you ever do find him again, would you mind sharing your impressions? I'm very tempted by the transparent Firefox, but I'm struggling with whether or not he's worth the money.

I heard some strange clanking in the vicinity of the toaster oven a little bit ago. I'll have Gears switch on his infrared soz I can find him

Plastic feels great, just like the other NA transparent bots. Nothing was overly stiff or loose. Only thing about him is the top two inner flaps (the two red flaps that are just behind his head) like to pop out all the time. The left one can sort of click into place, but if I touch it, it pops back out. My original version does the same thing, to a lesser degree. I'm a little more hesitant to give it a good squeeze... transparent xtb eligos left me with some clear plastic anxiety lol

If they did do it this way, I would think they'd gate off the section of the molds for parts not used for a particular version, rather than mold everything every time and throw out a bunch of unused parts. Not saying it's impossible, but it's just not good business to do a bunch of extra work that goes unused.
