Yup. I love me some pearl paint but I just don't care enough about Jetfire to buy him again. One and done.

 

It looks like the hip joints, and therefore the front hip 'skirts' are unpainted. Will be interested to see how that looks in hand.

 

The EXR is super disappointing. I was really hoping it would be a suped up version of the EX. Maybe a little more toy accurate in sculpt, and looking that one more step Macross-like. I still like the EX, but for the price i guess I’ll continue to hold out hope that MS does a better toy ver.

 

well..I was all in on these, but...nah... I've got the first one, maybe I'll keep my preorder for the SG version (have the SG Hasbro Pulse one) but that's it unless I get wowed.

 

Yeah, this is frustrating. I would definitely have preferred the painted version, and was planning on holding out to see what the EXR would be. There was some speculating that the EXR might be a painted version of the toy-deco, and I used that as an excuse to just jump onto the original release ASAP. Obviously that was a mistake.

I still want the painted version, but I don't think I want it enough to double up on this guy. He is big and expensive enough that I'm not sure it's worth it for such a minor deco difference. I noticed that the "$30 off" coupon seems to be gone from the ShowZ listing for the original deco (I don't know if the coupon will sill work, but it's just not mentioned in the listing as it once was), so I'm guessing this version will be quite expensive.

This is especially disappointing because NA used to be so good about revealing all the decos up front, so people could make their decisions. I wonder how the Chinese segment of the fandom is reacting; I feel like they tend to not cut NA slack, and be pretty vocal about their displeasure.

 

Yeah, big pass. I'm happy with the standard, (semi) affordable version.

 

Is anyone else's Firefox yellowed in this region straight ootb? Not sure if paint mismatch or true yellowing by which I should request a replacement

 

I was hoping for a super toy version as well. I wonder if there will be any add-on kits available for the EX.

 

We've brought this up before; the paint doesn't match the super white plastic, it's more yellowy. Everyone's is like that.

 

Finally gave this guy a little attention, transformed and to and from altmode:
Well-made with a smooth and thoughtful transformation. I understand the “fun” transformation” point a bit more. I also like the way the shins pivot over the thighs for transformation, allows for more positioning.
If I could change anything, it’d be the raised faction symbol spots, add a couple extra sets of hand poses, and most of all, a character this tall (relatively) should be able to look down.
Overall, 9.0/10.
Disclaimer: I suck on ms balls. I think they could learn a lot but I still like their aesthetic.I’d love to see a collabo.

 

Made some arm armour. As I thought not very Macross-y as the arm shape is all wrong but since all I want it’s a homage to the toy it’s fine. (Also partsforming as they won’t fit in the backpack)



I am cheating using blue tack to secure it. The default 3x6mm screw is too short with the armour. I need a 3x8 or slightly bigger but since I don’t have those….

 

I’m feeling that leg armor…
