Hard disagree. Magic square's devastator is just as stable as Newage's devy.

I was impressed with their Menasor because of the customization options. But I’ve been leaning towards NA Devastator because of the toy aesthetic. I have an almost completed Generations collection that covers the toon bases, so with the 3P legends I do get, I want to go with toy/comic colors to differentiate.

"Artikulation" chapter shows the big problems, but see for yourself:

Sorry, no. The copy I had wasn't.
Scrapper fell apart most of the time and Mixmaster made problems too.

one would think that. except NA teased their menasor way before MS was complete with their first relase and still never produced shit. then they did devi for the MS version and took about a year to get all the legs fixed. even if they dropped them both at the same time i would never waste my money on NA.

MS has something special with what they are doing with their combiners.

While it's easy to release a CG teaser of a single figure, it's when actual prototypes start getting shown off that their offerings will become relevant. For now, it's just riding on Magic Square's coattails.

I anticipate them doing a similar thing they did for Devastator, which I'm generally fine with. It does take quite a bit of the actual "combination" out of the combiner, but you cannot argue with the results it produces, good looking individual members and a good looking combined form (even if it's all toon-accurate to the nth degree).

If NewAge is still sticking to its initial Scramble City claim, I can see why it takes so long.

They'll need to design, or at least have a rough sketch of, four combiners at the same time.

Not trying to shit on NA, I have no affiliation with either company.

But given the past history with Menasor, and currently comparing a teaser image vs an actual prototype photo, the odds are pointing to MST being first, from an objective point of view.

But if NA can come up with a good design, can back up their scramble city claim, and have repaints up the wazoo, then they will still make money.

Uhm, I saw the MS Menasor thread was open in October 2017, and figures were released in 2021?

Waiting like NA Menasor would be a bit annoying, but NA often release their figures just weeks or a few months after revealing. Menasor seems to be the only exception?

These renders of one Stunticon and one Combaticon are a pretty silly attempt to get their fans to hold off on MS and wait for theirs. Still waiting to even see a prototype of a Stunticon, I suspect I’ll have MS Bruticus finished and in my toon collection long before NA shows anything more.

That said, I’m looking forward to getting the EX versions of both Menasor and Bruticus when they drop however long from now (years?)

I really don't care about that. I love their Devastator. If they need to do that in order to accomplish a good toon look for Bruticus I'm fine with that. I do hope the individual Combaticons will be better than their Constructicons though. They were by far some of their weaker recent bots in terms of hollowness and articulation.

I was speaking in terms of the whole set once they started being released, but even then it seems I’m wrong. Apologies, that 2020-2021 period was a blur for me.

I love my MS Devastator. He’s solid, well made, poses and articulates well and looks amazing. The more Matt plastic takes a bit of getting used to hit I think I prefer it in these smaller figures.
I haven’t picked up MS Menasor but I probably will and I think I’ll be in on their Bruticus as well.
New Age is t wowing me at the moment, though I’ve grown to appreciate their Omega Supreme.

    50% goodness so far.
Look at the frequency: Ratchet and Ironhide announced: Ratchet hits A WEEK later.
    Almost the same with Jetfire.
Inferno wasn't too far off either.

They currently finish their stuff and blast it out immediately, which is why I think they only teased Breakdown and swindle, but they are done and probably also the rest, once they announce it.

Actually it was awhile between showing the render for the Vanbros and then the prototype, the render came out long before, and it wasn’t til after the prototype we saw the quick turnaround.

Only when they show a prototype can you expect that super fast turnaround

all of the figures you are talking about. these things are taking many months to drop not weeks.

i think the only thing that has gone from a tease to a full fledged bot in no time flat is the new omega. but who knows when it will actually be in coming.

but clearly that was in the pipe line for a long time. they only dropped it because the mini dx9 omega was about to beat them out the gate.
